Has anyone installed a stove jack in one of these and used a stove in it? The Hex 3 is a terrific and cheap(er)nylon tipi. I bought two on a sale, and I'm thinking of modifying one.

I thought about it but when I set it up and played with it I was concerned about space. I don't think there's enough room for two people/bags and a stove. I had visions of melting my bag. It would work great for a solo!

I've heard talk of people adding a stove but have not seen one yet. I did a quick search but didn't see anything.

Sorry not much help. I think I'll sell mine and move up to a TI Goat 6.5 it's twice as big. Plenty of room for a stove and a couple people.

I thought Art or someone did that last year. You might try a search 'cause I think it's been done already.

Jockc, I've seen it done before. Believe Ti Goat will sell you the stove jack. You or somebody proficient with a sewing machine will just have to sew it in the tipi.

The owner of the tipi and I had a small Kifaru stove set up in it. It didn't supply near the amount of room as my 4 man Kifaru tipi, but it is certainly manageable.

The plus side is the tipi is lighter then my 4 man as well as being considerably less expensive. Being smaller in volume then a 4 man also made it much easier to keep the tipi warm (less feeding wood in the fire).

Hopefully you'll give it a whirl and let us know how you like it.

Welcome to the board!

Here is a photo. I have a Golite hex but have not added a stove jack. Someone posted this on another form.
