Ok, I give up. Just what do those numbers mean?

The year 1st row = PE 2nd =DE 3rd =110 PE right hand and 4th = 110PE left hand. The numbers are yearly production numbers.

Reformatted because web sites trash text formatting by default...

Too bad they don't have LBC's. I think they were not produced much in serial number order. I have photos of a large number of PE's and DE's in my new book and the engraving does tend to deteriorate a little in the higher serial numbers. German versus Japanese engraving?

So were engraved silver inlayed scope rings ever part of guns or offered by savage.

I have my fathers PE and it has weaver style rings that are engraved and inlayed, then a week or so ago I seen what I
thought was another pair on eBay but it ended up being just one ring,

Maybe... they do have LBC's.

LBC's were struck both on the front of the lever boss, and on the receiver above the lever. Not sure if that continued all the way to 1969.. but maybe. You just have to pull the buttstock to see it. grin

I didn't check for LBC's on all the PE's and DE's I photographed for the new book. None of mine have it on the front of the lever boss. I'm not interested in pulling the buttstocks on mine. I don't take works of art apart.
