I have 3.5x10’s on 99’s, 4.5x14’s on bolt guns. I think I like the 3.5x10’s better. The seem to be a touch better in low light.

Purty rifle, but how can you shoot it with the eyepiece way back like an inch from your eye?

It's about 2.5 to 3 inches from my eye....

Strangest thing I took that scope and the Tally rings off a 1959 Sako .243....it fit right in the Tally bases on the Kimber without moving the ring spacing at all.

They did put some nice wood on them for a bit.

They still do from time to time, I was looking at a 84m 308 a few weeks ago and the stock looked like its twin.

I’m kinda conflicted on which Kimber I want now…don’t really want to pay Gunbroker prices for a Classic, but I might. Or, I could pick up a Hunter, replace the gel in the stock with foam, and have the stock dipped in a Camo pattern and have one that would be a half pound or more lighter than the classic.

I had a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x on mine & my son’s wears a Redfield 3-9. Of those I’d go Swaro.

I think they have Hunters that are Camo dipped.

I’d get a regular FDE one and probably dip it in First Lite Fusion or Sitka Subalpine. Could pretty easily have a poor mans Subalpine 257 Bob then ha. One reason I’d get the FDE is I’m a gorilla and tend to damage the original finish anyway when pulling the gel out. The grip cap has to be popped off and glued back on. So I can do all that and then send it to be dipped. FL fusion would be nice, would look just like this:

I’m a 2.5-10 fan. I have hunting scopes ranges 2-7, 3-9, 2.5-10,3.5-10,3-12,4.5-14 and I keep going g back to the 2.5-10 as it offers the best of both worlds in a decent weight

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Very nice combo. Your front base is on backwards, not that it matters much on a mild recoiling rifle. The thick lug goes forward. That's the lug that deals with the force of the scope during recoil. It would also reduce the space between rings a fraction of an inch giving you a little more back-and-forth adjustment.

If that's an Oregon it's been handled with kids gloves....

I've had both in .22s I prefer the Yonker .22s.

Most of my rifles in that general class (including a Kimber classic) have the 2 1/2 - 8 Leupold. It just seems to be the ideal fit for a general purpose hunting rifle.

I have a 2 X 7 Kahles on my Kimber 257, I think it is perfect. This particular scope if now difficult to find.
