I need some advice. 303 Savage made from 220 Swift is too thick in the neck to chamber a round.
The factory brass for 303 Savage is 0.012 case neck thickness. 303 Savage made from 220 Swift has a case neck thickness of o.020-- 0.021. I've never turned a case neck. Never needed to. Read about doing is all. Need to dig deeper into my manuals.

What unit from what manufacturers works best and is dummy proof? Looks like I need to take a total of 0.016 from the circumference.

If it makes a difference, the factory is .334 neck diameter. These that I made from Swift are .325 without a .308 bullet. With a .308 bullet .342 seated.

I don't know, T...I have made a hundred or more of these 303:220 cases out of brand new Winchester brass and have not had a single malfunction. Eddie used Remingtons, because he had a similar problem (like yours) with the Winchesters. I use a standard RCBS die which is used and a little old, but looks like a modern die to me, and have used oversized (.313) cast bullets as well as .308 Speer 180's and 130's.
Eddie can shed some light on this for you as he has had the same difficulty and has fixed the problem.

Good luck.

Switching brass. I guess you really should read all the load data first!

The choice of brass may be the problem. I reload black powder rounds and it is generally accepted that winchester brass is the thinest and gives a bit more powder capacity. May be the same for the swift. try the winchester and see. remington brass is often the thickest.

From Shooters:
For what it's worth, Bertram is now producing new .303 Sav. brass for the pricey sum of $31.79 {Graf's} per 20. Before somebody gets his panties in a twist, let me go on record and say that is indeed HIGH and luckily, I don't need the brass and won't be buying any. Bertram isn't known for low prices, that's for sure, but there must still be a mild demand for .303 Sav. in order for them to gear up and produce it. For anyone inclined to buy any of this brass, more power to ya! For anyone who wants to argue about it, I couldn't care less....
