Put a set of talley low lightweights on a ks remington 30-06. Rifle is low at 50 yds. Scope will not adjust anymore to bring it up. I'm confused.

There is some tolerance stacking happening between the alignment of the barrel, the bases, and the scope; you've reached the end of the scope's adjustment range. You can try putting a shim made from a soda can under the rear base.

Could it be built on an early 700 action?

Might be something you aren't interested in doing, but I would take the barreled action out of the stock and runout on the barrel. Remington is one we found to have issues with this more than any other manufacturer. Many had the barrel lugs off center also.

KR is the barrel code. May of 1997 is what I'm seeing for the date code.

What I found to be odd was it had a 40moa nightforce rail on it. Took it off and put talley light weights on it. Never had any issues before with this setup.

Did you center the adjustments before attempting zero?

Did you center the adjustments before attempting zero? This^^^ With that rail who knows where the scope adjustments are. I bought a used VX-3 last year and elevation adjustment was a 4-5 clicks from being maxed out. Then again, if these are Talley Lwt's they often need lapped.

Centering the adjustments before sighting in is not going to help this particular issue. Leupold will send you shims I believe.

If it was working with the same scope but 40 Moa of lift at the back of the scope base...Add some more lift to the rear end of the scope and you'll be fine. You might want to lap the rings afterward.
As K22 said I have a feeling your barrel ain't straight or the shoulder is cut strangely. I've installed Remington takeoff barrels that were 20moa off in one direction or another.
But if you can get the scope on target and the gun shoots...

I just don't ever recall any major issues with remington KS mountain rifle. It has the Mcmillian stock and not the Brown. I'm not saying it isn't possible.

I'd see that putting the scope in a bind. Having tilt built into a rail and raising the rear base of a two piece set aren't the same thing.

Gun groups well. Extremely well just about 2.5 inches low.

Centering the adjustments before sighting in is not going to help this particular issue. Leupold will send you shims I believe. You're probably right. But with a scope new to a person it's always a good idea to center the scope adjustments. But it's also a KS M700, unlikely to be a receiver/barrel/screw hole misalignment. Plus if there was a issue it probably would have been addressed when the rifle was bought new. The Talleys are what I would look at first.

Gun groups well. Extremely well just about 2.5 inches low. Accuracy will not be effected by a barrel 20 or 30 moa off, but point of impact will. If the barrel is off 20 then at some distant point it will never be close, but accuracy not be effected.

Sounds like a gun issue. I’ll take it off your hands (for cheap, of course). You’ve gotten some good advice; it’s unlikely to be the gun.

Had this problem with a Weatherby Mark 5 several years back. It was a leupold as well. I'm going to check the bedding closer and look at the pressure pads in the forearm of the stock. The barrel contour is obviously not like the standard mountain rifle. This is my first KS. I appreciate everyone's advice. Thank ya fellers.
