I was drawn earlier this year and was successful on a non-resident hunt for antelope in Wyoming this month (October 2021). I will be applying again for 2022 when that becomes available next May. When can I buy a preference point for the 2022 drawing or is that possible? I just looked on line on my Wyoming F&G account and that option is not currently available.

Thanks.

you won't have a point until the 2023 drawing

Since you drew this year (2021), your points went to 0 and you're not eligible to buy a point until 2022. When you apply next year (2022) you'll have 0 points going into that draw and can only get a point if you do not draw that year.

Basically, in a given year you can either get a point or get drawn for the tag.....not both.

Application period (for actual hunts) for deer and antelope is roughly Jan. 3 to June 1 for 2022. Application for points only is July 1 to Nov. 1 for 2022.

Did you post a report and pictures of your successful hunt? Asking for a friend.

Just because you cannot apply for a preference point until after the submission date, does not keep you from applying. It reduces your odds of drawing but you can still apply.

Thanks all for the replies.

Here is my 2021 antelope. Taken on private land south of Gillette. Antelope were abundant but did not see anything real big. 13 incher's seemed about the norm. Ended up taking this one kind of in a hurry to avoid the winter storm that hit the next day. Glad I did as highways were closed out of Gillette for over 24 hours. Rifle used was a 1950 vintage pre-64 Model 70 in 257 Roberts. Performance of 115 partition hand load was excellent on the 126 yard shot.
