What would you prefer for whitetail deer.... A Sierra 200 gr RN at 2080fps.....a 200 gr Hornady RN at 2180... or a 200 gr Hornady FTX at 2240? These are all loads that shoot very well and I am having trouble making my mind up what to use for gun season here. Shots will always be under 100 yards.

Having some experience with the .35 Remington, I doubt very much anybody could see any difference in field performance.

Not a gun writer - shoot what you have the most confidence in. IMO they all should work similarly. 1 in the pump room is all you need.

If any of them failed to do the job, it would not be the bullets fault. Any one of those loads will work.
Personally, I'm old school, and would prefer a 200 grain Core Loct.

Ive shot 4 with the FTX factory round. All under 75 yards.

2 in and out, 2 fragged.

All deer recovered in short distance.

Try for #5 tomorrow.

I agree but being the loonies we are its always fun to hear the opinions. I doubt you could go wrong with anything from the 150 corelokt to the 220 Speer. I used that last year with LVR at almost 2200... Its a tad tough for a 35 I think... but it put em in the freezer.

I have parked some high dollar rigs since I bought this 336. It seems to be about all I reach for now. The Hornady RN load uses a fairly stiff charge of Varget. I know they are a little tougher than the Sierra so I figured Id run them a tad harder... although I doubt it matters much.

Id love to try some of the 200 cl's but they are and have been nearly impossible to find since I got this gun.

In my grand sample of 2 deer with the 35, both with the Sierra at about 2050, I’ve had 2 pass through shots with a lot of damage to the important stuff. The one I shot behind the shoulder and broke ribs went 15 yards with a 40 cal entry wound and a 3” exit, awesome blood trail. The one I shot between the shoulder blades and out the chest had one spasmodic leap and died mid air. The shot was straight down from about 9 feet. The exit wound was huge. In short, of your loads, I’d stick with what I know works. Good luck.

Yeah, I like those 200 gr. CoreLocs. I bought 500 years ago and used them in my .35 Rem. and Custon.358 Win. GREAT BULLET!
I have just under 100 left.

And after I bought 6 marlin levers (they just kept popping up in local ships years ago for $300 (that’s been about 5 years ago) i decided to buy a case for each rifle also have a couple of handi rifles in 35 rem and would scarf up some at gun shows and other ships when I could get them $10-$12 a box. Winchester power point federal hi shocks and core lokts They all are good deer killers. Needless to say one shop owner I ordered the cases from asked me last week if he could buy a couple of boxes of the cor lokts from end because in his words he knew I had some left.

I think all of the bullets you listed would work. I have used the FTX on one deer and the bullet fragmented and did not exit. The bullet hit the spine going in from above the deer. The latest deer with a 35 Rem was taken with Federal blue box 200 grain that exited and the deer drooped.

I'll look around. I may have some left that I can let go.

Sounds like a great “problem” to have, as opposed to the more usual, “I wanna use bullet X, but Y shoots so much better.”

Pick the Hornady RN, for no reason at all, then relax.

What fresh Hell is this?
