I purchased this years ago with a couple long guns. Practically new with very little wear. The person I purchased it from dad had bought it new I think in the 50’s. What kind of price should I ask for it? Thanks
a second series shorty Match Target is very desirable. $1000-$1200 around here, but box, goodies and grip adapters could up that....
I'd think it would be every bit of $1200 in VG-EX shape and depending on accessories, but I haven't been paying attention lately. I have a 6" second series in nearly unfired condition in a custom Colt box with a spare mag and tool and I don't think I'd let mine go for less than that and the shorty should be a bit higher.
What tool are you referring to? I do think I purchased a couple of extra mags for it when I was thinking about buying the grips. I had a S&W41 that had two barrels that I bought from a doctor in excellent condition. I let a guy talk me out of that gun and have regretted every since. I got a lot of guns that don’t get used and I probably damage them getting them in and out of safe to clean them.
Last time I was in LGS they had one on consignment that looked really nice and the asking price was $1400. It's been there a while.
I'd been tracking them for a while and just bought one in very nice shape (not mint but very close) for $1400 and felt it very well bought. The norm seems to be $1500-$1700 but you might be able to find one cheaper in an LGS and if you do and want one I'd buy it.

I got one for $699 last year. A guy consigned his collection, and I bought 4 of the cheaper ones. Minor bluing wear and some small pitting on the barrel, original tombstone mag. Not as nice as some, but I shoot mine......

In 2013 I got a 1953 Colt Woodman target for $699 +$66 tax. In 2013 I got another 1953 Colt Woodman target for $940 +$89 tax.
Two different pawn shops.

the estimates above are about right. Your pics are small so I cant see really good, but the finish doesnt look as shiny blue as some I have seen.
I have a letter that came with it that says it’s in 98% but I have always thought that was subjective. I couldn’t upload the original photos so I had to reduce them that distorted the picture a little. It’s not as light as those photos make it. I’m thinking it’s worth 13-1400 but I guess it worth what someone willing to pay for it more or less.
I bought a 1908 Colt 25acp made in 1915 for $250 with a box in 2016.
The guys on the Colt forum said the box was worth more than the pistol.

Wonderful still life!
