First real post on the forum, not really a classic but one you don't see to often. Model 70A 30.06 parkerized police supposedly.

I read Model 70 on the barrel, not 70A. Does this have a hinged floor plate? What style Safety does it have? I have seen model 770 or 670 with various Safeties and Blind Magazines vs Hinged floorplates. They were marked on the barrel with the proper designation; the receivers had no marking other than Winchester. The various Scope Base manufacturers used to Designate the 1946 or 1947 smooth rear bridge (same as post 64) as 70A with the PreWar slotted rear bridge mounts as 70.

Thanks for the links; very informative. I like the quality of the black walnut and utilitarian oil finish. Neat guns.

the Win model 70 was my first center fire rifle in the late 60's equipped with a 3x9 Redfield scope.
