I have been thinking about a 700 ADL/BDL Carbine and am wondering what chambering these were made in.

Standard 270 and 30-06 or did they have some in SA cartridges as well?

Walnut blued too, no plastic matte options.

20" barrels were the standard length installed on non-magnum 700 ADL/BDL for the first year or 2 of production.

I guess they wouldn't really be a Carbine specified model, just standard for the time.

I’ve got a 4 digit serial number 700 BDL carbine in 270 Win. Shoots really sweet.

One of my hunting pals has an adl 700 in 30-06 that he bought as a youngster in Prineville, Oregon.
Metal buttplate, 20” tube and one of the nicest pieces of walnut I’ve ever seen on a 700 of any kind.

I know of a couple: one is a 308 BDL and the other is 222 ADL.

I once owned 700 ADL in 222 with SN 3333 and still have 700 ADL in 6MM MAG with the "MAG" x'd out, SN 579xx, both with 20" barrels.

John Lacy's book lists the following ADL & BDL chamberings with 20" barrels in 1962 & 1963. Looks like mid 1964 was the change to 22" barrels.

222R
222RM
6MM
243W
270W
280R
308W
30/06

I had a 308 once that was a carbine, sold it but it shot great

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

A good friend had an early BDL in 243 Win. with the 20 inch barrel with a muzzle break.
No I did not misspell- his young son took it hunting and fell in the mud, plugging the barrel. Of course you know the bullet will blow the mud out! Anyway it split for about 3 inches back. Luckily a local smith had a 6mm Rem takeoff {also 20 inch} and installed that.

Yeah they are, my 12xxx serialed 62 model 700 adl 30-06 also shoots nice. When I bought it years ago it was missing the old style rear barrel sight but I found one and installed it. Zeroed it for 100 yards. The stock had been cut with a square notch for a receiver sight but it was gone so I hunted up the right Lyman and put it on. One of those models with the push button release to remove the sight bridge if needed to and return to zero feature. I then put on a set of weaver bases, they are low enough to use the irons or rec sight. Put a older M8 4x Leupold on top. So basically have 3 sight systems for it. Bought it right $229 iirc the dealer looked at it as bubba'ed and the price reflected that. It had been handled and carried alot but not shot much....mb

This thread needs a pic !

1962 Remington 700 243 w/ 20" barrel. too bad someone put a pad on it, looks to have been hunted a fair amount. It's my house rifle I leave out for varmints and such.

Popped this a couple of months ago pilfering pears.
