Hell NO!

Love a thick slice, rare... and a shaker of salt.

A short anecdotal aside:

One of the few places horseradish is grown commercially is around East St Louis, Illinois in the rich black soil near the Mississippi River. One summer, I hired on to hoe weeds in a horseradish field. You cannot easily imagine how miserable it is to hoe weeds in 90 degree temps at 90+ percent humidity. But it is a thousand times worse if your hoe cuts a horseradish root. It is like being engulfed in tear gas. I survived it for one day and never went back. My no-show on day two was fairly common for new hires, I'm told.

I love horseradish - grated, none of that sissy creamed stuff. But every bite of it brings back the memory of that day's breathing torture.

Anyone else notice that Lap has never had a home cooked meal?

Anyone else, also notice that Lap’s foody plates look better than most home cooked meals?

Lapua, might be onto something.

Silver Springs commercial horseradish is grown about 50 miles E of me..

One thing I'll never forget - my father had never had horseradish (this was circa '55) and mom brought a bottle to the table for whatever reason.. Dad took a teaspoon, heaped it up and ate it... I think he made it to the bathroom in 1.5 seconds and threw up.. Took a half-loaf of bread and a quart of water to stop the burning.. We all thought it was hilarious..

Sorry for the digression .. laugh

Sometimes I’ll take a bite of just prime rib
Sometimes I’ll dip it in Au-jus
Sometimes I’ll dip it in Au-jus and horse radish.

It’s tough making all these decisions, and if I’m at a restaurant I get paranoid bout people staring at me when I’m eating. Wondering if they approve or not.

I would also opine that there is a place for horseradish, lower quality meat overly done or poorly prepared? By all means, it can only help.
