Hi guys i have a savage 99 300 savage. Its from 1951, my great grandfathers who used it to kill mount lions upstate ny when there used to be! My rifle only has the 2 rear holes drilled. Im not into the stith mount and ive read about a member named Lightfoot and great reviews on his mounts. Im new to this forum and would like to get into contact with him. Any help contacting Lightfoot would b very appreciated because i want to start using the rifle for deer in NH. Thanks

Best of luck finding you mounts. Those two rear holes are for a peep sight (which are pretty pricey for the vintage ones). But if you just put one of those on there you can certainly start using the rifle for deer right away. I have a similar one with receiver peep I plan to use for whitetails this fall.
Looking forward to hearing of your sucess with the rifle and your hunts. Rex

It's the Savage Collectors section of this website you want, just a bit farther down the list from the Hunting Optics section where you are now.

I used to run the Leupold JR mount which was 1 piece, but I never cared for the rear windage screws and had them come loose on other rigs. Really neat gun you have. Please post up a few pics when you get it all put together.

Light foot’s 99 mount works fantastic , I bought one a few years ago and it’s been rock solid . It’s nice being able to mount a modern scope with out hurting the value of the gun.

Thanks I’m curious as to the timeframe of when your great grandfather was hunting mountain lions in New York state.
Don't roll those bloodshot eyes at me.
