I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Saw some in Wally Mart a few months back. Did not look bad but certainly not good, like the old ones.
Some mornings, it just does not feel worth it to chew through the straps!~

Guess it depends on how you look at it. Some of it looks better executed than other parts of it.

I am guessing the quality isn't what it used to be? I bought one a few years ago and POI was about 6" left of POA at 28 yards. As far as I'm concerned the value of such a gun is $0.

Let ‘em get the function right with the Express models, then apply that to the higher grades. Frankly, they were pretty cheezy a couple of decades ago. Good design, but old Ithacas and new Brownings are much nicer, and work just as well.
The SPS I bought my son in 1995 is an excellent gun, parkerized, not whatever they use now for “matte”.
What fresh Hell is this?

I bought a Synthetic Tactical 870 in August, 2021, built by the "new" Remington. (6 round, one-piece magazine tube.) It is an Express model, meaning a MIM extractor and plastic magazine spring retainer, not the kind used on the police magnum models. Very smooth action out of the box. Had no problem with slug accuracy to qualify.

I bought one at K-Mart way back when they first came out with the Express that was far worse than that. Took it back and exchanged it for another one {The good old days back when you could do that} and that one was just as bad. Took that one back and got a refund.

Saw several new 870 express in Scheels yesterday. I presume they’re recent manufacture.

I have a Police Magnum I got back in mod 2000’s, just went and got a second 26” vr barrel with chokes, and I have the best of both worlds. Solid gun with good capacity by the bed, and when I need a hunting gun, just swap barrels and we have one hell of a hunting shotgun. After what I read about the ammo shortage and Vista and Olin this morning, I am in no hurry to buy anything that feeds those pieces of schit. https://www.zerohedge.com/political/what-great-ammunition-shortage-says-about-inflation

The old 870 SP were matte finish. The 1100 SP was parkerized.
I dunno about the 1187 ones or of 870 last runs.
Think the Police models, some of the newer versions parkerized.
Express is just matte finish, or used to be. Even my J locks were.
Only have the 870 supermag tukey model 23" express now. It shoots fine, but the rib isn't done perfectly. Has a little wow to it, but not so much it cant be ignored in use.
I do miss my 870 Special Field 20 ga. 😭
LGS has new synth and wood 870 Express. Have not looked em over yet.
Will put that on my to do list and report back.
