Be out rolling down the interstate, on a whim decided to call it early and grab a hotel.
Have IHG credit card, cycle month living expenses like electric bill and insurance, run groceries across it. Earn Holiday Inn Express or Suites nights a couple a month just based on expenditures.
Fire up their app on my phone, reserve a room and exchange the points 30-50 miles before the exit, badda bing. Hardly ever pay for rooms. Points/cash back on card covers the room. We travel all the time. My old man, we got him set up, he gives us his hotel room points. Build em up, stay 7-10 days gone. Traveled all over the “out west” as the douchees call it. Never spent out of pocket for a room. Been doing that for several years Out west as in San Fran? Close I caught enough of the gay just gettjng near Geno’s place 😃

It's also damn inconvenient to go to work. It's no sin to be poor, but it's damn inconvenient. Sam, You're right it is...But working doesn't always mean you weren't poor. I've worked my whole life including High school right up till now. Married young and trying to raise a family saw plenty of lean times. But we made do. Started my charter business 36 years ago and it took everything we had to buy and outfit the boat, more lean times for a couple years but again we made do. Thankfully the work and persistence led to a successful business. I'll be 72 in a couple months and could easily not have to work again but I love what I do and will continue until health says otherwise. Best to you, Butch

. Except for homes, I've paid cash for everything I've ever owned in my life, including every vehicle and I've never had a credit card.. I could write a check for many times that amount right now and it wouldn't bounce and I'm completely debt free..
I'm all about debt free, don't get me wrong, but not having a credit card? How did you function as a gunsmith? Buying parts online you made your customers wait until your snail mail check arrived and cleared with your vendors? Plus, I put a ton on the credit card, my purchases are protected, and I get cash back. Just don't carry a balance and you don't pay interest. Even the lake house ?? Asking for a friend? Lake place is mortgage free. My "real" home will be in 4 years of less.

I haven’t even started to read this thread and I already know a train is about to wreck.
Helmet, googles, and fire retardant clothes on.
🦫 Hasn't been too bad. One guy even apologized to another. Brought a tear to my eye. This place is gettin' soft.

Early this morning I was wiping dog chit off my toes. Yeah, I’m sorry about that Sam....I couldn’t find the toilet in the dark. I did find a kitchen chair, and I think a quilt rug stand. I just braced myself between both and launched...Then I left. Feel horrible. 🦫

Well, I guess I'm the looooooser of the bunch. As of now, I would be hard pressed to cover a $1,000 surprise bill. To make matters worse my Diesel pickup (05 GMC) . stopped running . Yep, it was idling for about 1 min. and just stopped. It's in the shop now. With the $1,000 credit card payment coming up next week, and possibly the $1,000 truck repair, I will be hard pressed to come up with the money. However, let me explain. Thanksgiving weekend I had an 04 Malibu that had rusted out Subframe so bad the shop said dont drive it. I ended up with an 08 Chevy Impala with 45,000 mi. on it . Set me back $9,700. Come Jan. 3rd I put in my yearly ROTH for the wife and I . That set me back $14,000.. I have $1,000 in cedit card payments, a $1,000 home owners ins. payment due soon, and likely a $1,000 truck repair bill. so, no , right now I dont have $1,000 to spare. On January 3rd this year , I had a grand total of $ 207 left in my checking account. I do however, have a $2,000 check for a drywall job I can get soon and another $2800 invoice should be in the mail soon for a kitchen remodel. I am however all but broke at the time. Well damn. Don't go turning into one of those contractors that spends the new job's money on the last job's bills. Better times are coming, just ask Joe!
