With COVID and a possibility of war in the Ukraine, oil prices may destabilize. Prices will remain up. That could add to the difficulty in the hunting/fishing/tourism sector if prices do not begin to drop by the spring. Price increases will spread into the rest of the country in short order.

Record-high gas prices expected for Ontario, Quebec
Tom Yun - CTVNews.ca

Gas prices are expected to reach record highs in parts of the country ahead of the weekend.

Gas price watchdog Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, says drivers in most cities in southern Ontario and Quebec can expect to pay an extra two cents per litre at the pumps on Friday.

In Montreal, a litre of gas will cost 161.9 cents. In the Greater Toronto Area, gas prices will hit 151.9 cents per litre, surpassing the 150-cent mark for the first time.

We receive most of our oil from the US. 76% in fact. We receive 13% from Saudi Arabia. Imports are regulated by the federal government.

Buddy from Quebec said he didn't like Alberta's oil, the money was ok to keep rolling in though, I think they call them transfer payments or something like that, supposed to share the wealth more evenly I hear. Then Jason Kenny said FU you ain't getting no more money..last I heard about it.

True. Western Canadian oil gets dumped into the big tank in the US for less, eastern Canada imports it right back out of the same tank. Sell our oil to a competitor for less, then turn around and buy it back for more. What a concept, Canadian economics 101

Ouch! I just paid 1.459 at the discount place, but the radio says the price will go up shortly.

Where are you on the island? I used to live in Comox.
