I recently picked up a barely used Gen 5 Glock 34. I have never had an optic on a pistol, but want one on his gun. Which optic do I want to get. I think 50 yards is as far as I will go for distance. Most of my practice will be from 2 to 25 yards. I also want a good set of co-witness sights to go with it.

This pistol will be used for guarding the castle, personal protection and range practice. No plans for any formal competition and I have other smaller pistols for daily carry.

Also, what size of a dot do you prefer?

For a less expensive option.. Holosun, cant remember the model but works great. Personally I like trijicon and aimpoint but they cost more. I find that im actually faster with iron sights than a red dot on a pistol. No dot to look for. As my eyes age a red dot will be the answer.

I really like the Holosun 507C X2 Green with either the circle-dot or ACSS.......

Circle-dot is great but not as quick as the ACSS from awkward field positions......maybe better for a 22 or carbine.


ACSS carrot when centered properly.....helps with hold-over out to 100 yards

Genius large circle for centering the reticle quickly from tough positions.....naturally intuitive to acquire.
