I have a Cape buffalo mount that can sit on a pedestal. Anyone ever Mount a large elk/moose, Cape buffalo or similar on a tree stump.
If so, where did you get the stump.
I’m thinking 30” diameter or larger.
Yes, I know, go cut one, but I don’t have access to that size of tree.

Thanks

Have you asked your taxidermist?

Find a local tree guy. I'm sure a case of beer would get a stump delivered to your porch pretty quickly.

Check with a local tree service... they have stumps to get rid of regularly.

I have done similar with cottonwood bark on a round frame... very stable and far lighter.

If you were closer I'd crank up the Stihl and have one cut in about 10 minutes.

It's one of those things that just shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure any decent taxidermist could come up with one posthaste.

Local tree guys likely will have green wood that will crack as it dries. A stump from a firewood business will likely be already dried. Quite possibly that won't matter in the least.

Talk to golf courses/country clubs superintendents.
The Minneapolis country club has been taking out very large trees the last couple of winters. Most courses do removals in the winter. The trees are not put to any other use once felled but to be chipped up.

A really good taxidermist will do habitats as well. There are numerous ways to "make" a stump that ain't a stump. Be nearly impossible to tell the difference. Other than the hundred plus pounds.

Yup. Generally, they look better too. They are also not an apartment building for bugs...
