It was 29 degrees when I got there, and very windy. Couple of the shots were a little off center.

Overall, I am impressed with the TSS patterns. I am way impressed with the reduction in recoil.

looks like you have turkey killed, best I could tell you had 13 hits in the brain and spine at 40 yards

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Emphasize - I wasn't using a extra full choke in the 12 gauge, just the full choke tube that came with the gun. My A5 with a Kicks .680 patterns the same 3 1/2" load better.

But as far as the TSS out of a 20, I have no qualms now about taking it with me this spring.

I'd try a 3" Hevi shot #5 load out of the 20 gauge.

I have to admit, the Indian Creek .555" wasn't exactly my first choice. It does have good write ups and shows some excellent patterns. At the moment, I'm not finding any of the more open constrictions anywhere. As soon as we start having some more agreeable weather, I'll be heading out to pattern it and we'll see what we see...

Regarding that Maxus pattern, I am a bit disappointed in that pattern. Ive seen better patterns than that with that tube. Again, that was from a stock full choke tube. I have a Browning brand extended extra full tube in my SX4 and it only patterns a little better. And I have a Kicks Gobblin Thunder .680 in my A5 that patters a tad better. I have an Ithaca branded Carlson .675 in my Ithaca 12g 3 " that patterns best. My only issue with that is that it patterns a tad left.

I ordered a Carlsons Longbeard .665 Invector Plus tube. I'm going to take all 4 of my 12gs back out after I get it and do some pattern comparisons

I assumed it was 10 inches but I just measured it and it's 11 inches.

The black green targets are 7 3/4 inches.

OK.............

Please take this for what it is.........and that's constructive criticism. A brother helping a turkey hunting brother out..........

You should be more than a little disappointed in the 40 yard Maxus pattern.

As near as I can count, it looks like +/- 70 hits in the 10" at 40 yards with a #5 longbeard. They'll do WAY better. Seriously consider the Indian Creek Black Diamond Strike tube. You'll thank me.

In the other Fairy Dust thread I posted a 60 yard pattern (I fool around doing dumb stuff and wasting shells) from a Longbeard XR #4 with 65 hits in the 10" from my Super X2 (same bore geometry as your Maxus) with the Indian Creek tube. I'll look and see if I still have the target.......but with a Longbeard #5.........same tube, same 60 yards.........it printed a 105.

I think you'd benefit GREATLY from giving the Indian Creek a try.

That choke has done better. I only fired two 12g LB #5 rounds yesterday. Not sure why the hits are so sparse.

I patterned my 12g Ithaca M37 with Carlsons .675 yesterday too, shooting 3" Longbeard #5. That pattered much better than the Maxus pattern pictured above, and that was 3" versus 3 1/2".

I've got one of these coming that I'll try:

Take that BPS and get a .582 Undertaker choke or a .575 Carlsons and use Foxtrot or Apex 1 5/8 oz loads of 9’s.

You’ll be much more impressed with your patterns than what you have with the federals I believe. Some of the best patterns I’ve seen have been out of the browning guns, but with more open construction chokes. I’ve shot quite a bit of tss.

How many patterns did you shoot with each load and choke?

One pattern is no different than one bullet at a bullseye.

With the 20 gauge BPS, I tried one choke. A Carlsons TSS choke, .565. It's the only extended extra full choke I have for that gun right now, and probably the only one I'll get for it. I fired 4 #9 TSS loads and 4 TSS #7 loads. By the way, that's over $80 in shells. It was enough in terms of $$$ as well as enough to know for myself that both patterns well enough for turkey hunting out to 40 yards.

I fired two 12g 3 1/2" #5 Longbeard rounds soley for comparison. It was bad comparison. That gun had a standard Invector Plus full choke tube in it, not the Kick's tube I have in my A5, or Browning xfull I have in my SX4. It's neither the gun nor the choke I would use for turkey hunting. I've fired turkey shot out of it before and gotten better patterns with that exact choke, but the two rounds I fired didn't pattern well that day, and I didn't want to shoot up any more ammo. I should have compared it to my A5 or SX4.

Odd, I've had the same thing happen with 7.5, 8, 5 and 6's with lead.. laugh
