Anyone have bottom metal for a Rem model 7 laying around? Looking for a set. Black or stainless doesn't matter. Even better if you have the follower and spring for a 308.

Hank, are you looking for the newer anodized version or the original steel floorplate. I am assuming the former. The reason I ask is the stock inletting is different for the two version depth wise.
I may have the anodized version but will have to look.

David You are correct. The old ones with the smooth not knurled bolt knob, walnut stock, 18.5" barrel some had steel bottom metal

Yep they were flat latch and steel for the first couple of years and then went to the anodized with round pin release latch. The steel ones also had a spacer of sorts on the front lug screw and were inletted deeper. I have had a bunch in both variant and purchased the later one to fit an older gun into a youth stock to start my daughters on.
I'll never say I am 100% right but I'm about 99.5% sure that a first year gun definitely would have come original with a steel floorplate and flat latch, and no intent to derail the OPs post.

FishinHank,
The magazine box, spring, and follower for the Model Seven are the same as used on the 700, so they’re pretty easy to find. What’s been super hard to find are the mounting screws. IIRC, you can cut down a 700 action screw for the front, but the rear is an odd size. I’ve read that you can have the rear hole in the action drilled/tapped to the same size as the 700.
Do you happen to have the mounting screws?

Rich Rich, I won't argue because I definitely haven't checked, but I thought the boxes were different. Have you measured them? No intent to doubt, just want to confirm as it might come into play for me as well. Thanks and free bump for Hank.

According to Midwest Gunworks & Brownell’s, they are the same. https://www.midwestgunworks.com/remington-model-seven/magazine-assemblies.htmlhttps://www.brownells.com/rifle-par...agazine-box-short-action-prod144869.aspxIf they are incorrect, sorry to pass on the info. Figured they would know since they were factory authorized parts resellers. remingtonclassic - What have you observed is different between them? I can try one from a 700 in my Model Seven bare action later today. Are you saying it won’t fit, or is the overall height different, or something else? Just wondering what I should expect to see. I do have the original steel bottom metal; it comes with the front block and actions screws, I don't have the magazine box, spring, and follower but a 700 short action magazine box, spring, and follower will work. Sorry it took me so long to reply. Tracy
