The 1948 336A rifle that I have has a broken plastic butt plate. Where can I get a real Marlin replacement for it? Are all of them reproductions now? Are these all sold oversized, that need to be fit?
You'll be better off buying the oversized repro and fit it, very slim chance you'll find an original that will fit perfect.
They are very easy to fit if you have a small table top belt sander just tape off the stock good before you start.
When you get real close to the stock stop and finish sanding by hand with a piece of belt sanding paper make sure you go with the stock angle at the bottom of the butt plate. I buff out any tiny sand marks on the edges with my table top buffer....yes you can buff plastic.
I've done many and you can't even tell it was replaced.
Send me the stock and butt plate and I'll do it for you for free.

What is going on the second picture. Is the stock and the butt plate taped off, while the spacer is being sanded?
