186 years ago today....

Fellow citizens and compatriots - I am besieged by a thousand or more the Mexicans under Santa Anna - I have sustained a continual Bombardment & cannonade for 24 hours & have not lost a man.

The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, the garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is taken - I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, & our flag still waves proudly from the walls. I shall never surrender or retreat.

Then, I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism & everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch - The enemy is receiving reinforcements daily and will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days.

If this call is neglected I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible & die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor & that of his country.

Victory or Death.

William Barrett Travis

Lt. Col. comdt

P.S. The Lord is on our side - When the enemy appeared in sight we had not three bushels of corn - We have since found in deserted houses 80 or 90 bushels & got into the walls 20 or 30 head of Beeves.

Travis

Thermopylae had her messager of defeat, the Alamo had none!

Quite true. They had gonads in those days, and testosterone flowed in their blood.

Now, for leaders we have dysmorphic (I may have just coined a new word, I dunno) women who happen to need to shave and are preoccupied with their petty, selfish desires.

Don't be the darkness.

America will perish while those who should be standing guard are satisfying their lusts.

That was a man I would stand beside and die with if the situation called for it. The transgender, dementia ridden, diaper wearing, child molesting TRAITORS we have now, Id laugh at and tell the commies where they are if I knew.

We are the Alamo. The enemy is Democrats, being re-inforced from south of the border, and internationally, on a daily basis.

We are "fudged" , as was Travis.

You are never “fudged” if you can still die well. We are neither dead nor disarmed. When it comes to that, sell your life dearly, don’t just let them take it.

Thanks for posting that Travis letter Mike.

Hard to believe it’s been almost 200 years since the fall of the Alamo. And the birth of Texas.

One of my ancestors.

https://www.thealamo.org/remember/battle-and-revolution/defenders/george-w-tumlinson

Tumlinson, George W.
Age: 22
Rank: Garrison Member
From: Missouri

George W. Tumlinson, Alamo defender, son of Elizabeth and James Tumlinson, Jr., was born in Missouri in 1814. He moved to Texas and settled in Gonzales. Tumlinson entered the Texan Artillery under Almaron Dickinson on September 23, 1835. He took part in the siege of Bexar and was discharged afterward. He reenlisted on December 14 for six months of service in Capt. William R. Carey's artillery company. Sometime before the siege of the Alamo began, Tumlinson may have left for his home in Gonzales, returning to the Alamo on March 1, 1836, with the Gonzales Ranging Company of Mounted Volunteers. Tumlinson died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immortal_32

The Immortal 32 was a relief force of thirty-two Texian Militia from the Gonzales Ranging Company who reinforced the Texians under siege at the Alamo. They are "immortalized" as the only unit to answer the To the People of Texas & All Americans in the World letter. Along with the other Alamo defenders, they were all killed and burned after the Battle of the Alamo.[1]

12This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

I despise the little cretins that try to re-write history and make them out as cowards or dummies. Those guys had balls the size of watermelons.
