I just picked this up this afternoon. Mid/late 1930s.

Beautiful. One of the finest looking handguns I've seen posted on this board.

Local purchase?

I have one from this era that looks no where as nice as yours but the thing is unreal in the accuracy department……it’s as accurate as any handgun I own (and I just picked up a Volquarsen Black Mamba!!)

Thanks for sharing!

That’s beautiful! Pretty rare and in great shape. You must be living right.
I never see anything that nice, maybe I need to expand my gun shop radius. 😁

I'll see if I can get a better pic or two today. I just wiped it down prior to that pic yesterday, after a closer examination I honestly don't believe it has ever been cleaned. So I'll be spending some time doing that today
In hand the way it feels for me is best described as exquisite. Much lighter than my five screw K22 from the 50s. The front sight blade has a dot of silver colored metal that really lights up.

I read an article that told of the accuracy standards for the early models. Seems like the smith making these would shoot them. If he wasn’t happy with the accuracy, they got more work. Been looking for the article and can’t find it.

Longarm: That is a beauty - good for you.
They don't make them like that anymore (sadly!).
Enjoy that classy pistol.

Thanks fellas, I'm very pleased. I picked it up from an older gentleman on the other coast whose Father bought it new.
Cleaned it up a little bit today but I still can't get a decent picture of it with my phone.
Anyway I have switched to pilsner and peanuts now so I'm going to put this little dandy away .

HB1945,

If I remember right they were “guaranteed” to shoot 1.5” at 50 yards! I can’t hold mine well enough but I bet a good pistol shot (or Ransom) could get that or darn close from mine - I have shot some groups with mine at 25 yards - that were like I said before unreal!!

That is fantastic. Please shoot a squirrel or two, the old gun will thank you for it.

PennDog,
Years ago I handed the president of our pistol club a 5-screw K22. He had never held or shot one before (other than me the club all shot Hammerli) but proceeded to shoot his first group that could have been covered with a dime. I clearly remember his face when he turned around and asked, "Where do I get one of these?!"

local_dirt,
Beer will do that to a guy!
