Went to my pro shop today and shot the new Mathews V3X 29 and was very impressed. Smooth draw and dead in the hand and I like their new bridge lock technology. You can mount your sight in the center of the riser in a dove tail channel with allows a quiver to be tucked up very tight. Balance was great. I'm shooting a Halon 7 right now and there was enough difference that I am going to jump and get one as soon as a camo model shows up in the shop. Going to order a HHA Tetra Tournament sight for it https://www.mathewsinc.com/v3x/

My 60lb switchback is getting tired, shot it through the crono, got 225 with a 400gr arrow. Good enough still for close in deer and elk hunting. But I have an antelope tag this year, probably my last... time for a new/newer bow, thinking a used Vertix or that V3X.

I'd suggest shooting the V3X you will be blown away compared to your Switchback

Kent Having owned and shot the Vertix and the V3X - I'm with George on this one. The V3X is much quieter with the same arrow, smoother for me on the draw, and sits dead in the hand after the shot - IMHO.

Kent How old is your string, Kent? New string might bring the bad boy back.

I still have my old Oneida lite force magnum I bought new in '96. I'm pretty loyal to a bow for many years. Dan's post just kinda mirrored what I've been thinking for a couple weeks... new Mathews... or Elite. Kent

I'm shooting a Halon 32 - 7" now. Thinking I may upgrade to a VX3 29" myself. I wish I'd bought the shorter Halon when I bought this one. Good information here. Thanks!

Very nice rig, the bridge lock system looks like it has the potential to be real slick.
They're made up the road a little way from me but haven't been wowed by a Mathews for a few years now. Have shot the 33'' several times, holding out still, but theres a long way to go til bow season.....

Congrats on your new bow, enjoy!
I finally traded my Switchback out for the 33 a few weeks ago.

I sold my traverse and bought the VX3 33.. similar bows but I personally wanted the switchweight technology.
Shooting 72lbs 70 times a night at field leauge was starting to become cumbersome. I could do it but didn't see the point.
The draw and balance of the V3X is great and as stated very dead in the hand. I just had it back out a couple days ago in the yard. Very pleased with my decision.
I recommend shooting this bow to anyone who is in the Market
Hunt...

Having a V3 31, I shot the V3X33, felt the same to me, not enough to switch. I really like the Atlas, wasn't one to shoot when I bought the V3 or I would've went that way. My V3 is so dialed in for me it would take a lot for me to switch it. I'm sure you'll love the V3X!

So, I ended up buying a 2021 V3 27 for 600 bucks. Has the dovetail for the rest and got the QAD Ultra MX integrated. Really that's what I wanted, more than an integrated sight. The rest, and I needed different modules, arrived today and I installed them. Bought the 65lb 85% letoff. I have a 27in draw, and the 27 ata may just be a good balance, that was my only concern, short ata.
Anyway I only shot it over the crono. With a full turn off max weight I got 270 and with a half turn off I got 284, with a 400gr arrow.
The draw isn't as smooth as the switchback, but man is it dead on the shot, once back the hold is super easy.
I'll bareshaft tune it tomorrow.
