Bought a half beef yesterday, $5.00 a # processed. 80/20 hamburger is below that, but anything else for the most part is much more. Don't see things getting better very soon.

Not saying its bad and I hope it isnt....but in this market I would be leery of anything that is much cheaper than normal.
Because it just spent a week in a unrefrigerated box coming from Brazil. Just throw on a little more BBQ sauce I just put in an order for some locally grown burger from some friends, $4.50 LB this time because butchering cost went way up. Still way better than buying cheap imported crap from the store that tastes funny. I'm paying $6.50/lb for locally raised Red Angus burger, as a supplement to dwindling deer burger ! Just do like a lot of folks are doing, open deer season back up.

Would you fuggers STFU about bacon? One more crave about it & it will be 10 bucks a pound.

Shelves are sketchy here. Last Friday we ran to a local butcher. Picked up a 6 pack of rather large pork chops for $8 and a 5lb rump roast for $32
Meat can be hit and miss here. I got recruited to load three steers and take them the slaughter house on Tuesday morning.

Jim, heifer top at last Tuesday's Dunlap sale was $143. A bit less than that.

The only meat we've bought since last deer season is hot dogs and chicken. Still have about 3.5 - 4 deer in the freezer. I have no idea what beef has been selling for here. I thought there were mostly hunters here. Funny they'd be so concerned about the price of meat so soon after hunting season.

We have a fat heifer for sale. How much? Sidney livestock market report(radio) said they sold an all natural 2195lb bull for $1.22, last weeks sale... That is the highest canner bull I have ever heard of. I pray we can hold onto to most of the cows because it should be a great market this coming 6-12 months.

Don't know. Have a freezer of elk and venison and some fat from a grass fed beef and I think still 5-10# of pork fat back. Been eating nothing but meat the last week + black coffee + water. Trying to drop 10#, almost there.
Craving a salad.

I've seen fat bulls lately going through the ring for $1.10 to $1.15. What does a bull bone out percentage wise? I know they sell the hide for leather and tripe and heads to Mexico so they make a little there. Don't know about the bones.

Wasn't too long ago $1 canner bulls was good.
I don't know how they bone out.
How does a butcher steer break down?
It's in thirds.
You get about a 1/3 of live weight back in actual meat? (if you're a white man...)
