http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/africa/10/03/darfur.carter.ap/index.htmlI can't really speak intelligently about his presidency due to the fact that I was 10 years old when Ronald Reagan defeated him in the presidential election of 1980, but I will pray for him in this battle. I hope he can help in some way over there. Sickening events have been plaguing that region for too long. I do know he is a good man and this might be a better legacy to leave behind. Getem Jimbo!

Carter won't do anything about it but talk, talk and talk. A dozen helicopter gunships and a couple of battalions of Marines would have eliminated these janjaweed asswipes years ago. The muslim killers just laugh at do-gooders like Carter and the UN hand-wringing squad.

Carter is an embarrassment to America, and a danger as well. He should do the right thing, and die.

Who do we need to pay to keep this POS in Darfur? And who else do we pay to have the secret service ditch this fool for the local jackals to scavenge?

I was almost 40 when Carter was elected and you can't believe what a mess he made of things. Double digit inflation with interest rates above 20%. To think that he has anything of substance to contribute to the world situation is laughable. He's nothing but a stooge for the people that hate us. When the phrase "He knew not and knew not that he knew not" was coined they had Jimmy Carter in mind.

Carter 'Faces Down' Sudan Officials By Caving In Wed, Oct 3, 2007 at 8:31:35 am PDT
The Associated Press headline says: Jimmy Carter faces down Darfur officials.
KABKABIYA, Sudan - Former President Carter got in a shouting match Wednesday with Sudanese security services who blocked him from a town in Darfur where he was trying to meet with refugees from the ongoing conflict. ...
You cant go. Its not on the program! the local security chief, who only gave his first name as Omar, yelled at Carter, who is in Darfur as part of a delegation of respected international figures known as The Elders.
Were going to anyway! an angry Carter retorted as a crowd began to gather. You dont have the power to stop me.
Ill tell President Bashir about this, Carter said, referring to Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.
That headline is ridiculous, of course. Because after all his blustering and threatening, Carter showed his usual strength of character by completely caving in.
Carter later agreed to a compromise by which tribal representatives would be brought to him at another location later Wednesday. But the refugee delegates never showed up.

Another episode in the ongoing life of Jimmy Carter and the Killer Rabbit, maybe the Secret Service should have let the Killer Rabbit complete Mission impossible.

Actually, all it would take is a couple of armed predator drones steered by high school kids. Either that, or unload a couple of containers of AK47's and a couple of containers of ammo at each refugee camp. That would even things out in a hurry. Talk is overrated, and entirely useless when radicals are involved. JMO, Dutch.

I would have to hate calling Carter stupid. The would be a gross insult to those who are stupid. Would someone explain to me how in the hell he ever got elected to the Presidency? I guess it was the "stupid" honoring the King of Stupid. Paul B.

Carter is not stupid, he is dangerously naive. He's a good man, with a good heart, but he needs to check in with reality before he gets involved in politics. JMO, Dutch.

No, he is not stupid, but he is not naive either. He is calculating, and has pushed the same agenda for many years. His reality and agenda have a lot to do with damaging America's ability to remain a free nation, and a lot to do with aiding and abetting socialist and communist dictatorships.

This is a reality based board. Carter's biggest accomplishment was convincing Egypt that if they quit attacking Israel, Israel would quit stomping their armies into greasy spots in the desert.
A government is the most dangerous threat to mans rights: it holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force against legally disarmed victims.

back in the end of Gulf war I, people were on Bush SR's behind for not removing saddam from power. Carter stuck up for bush, saying leave saddam in power, he also stuck up for saddam in someways (not totaly), having some real knowledge of how the world really works over there. carter at that time was questioned on the possiblity that saddam will continue to make more WMD including possible nukes. carter's answer was saddam will not do it. then gulf war II come up, carter says stay out of there, there is no reason for this war at this time. plus carter knew that Iran was worse, and saddam would help balance out the power there, like he did in the past.
Carter was very correct.........................

I can't really speak intelligently about his presidency due to the fact that I was 10 years old when Ronald Reagan defeated him in the presidential election of 1980 Cartoonist Jeff McNelly, who draws "Shoe," caught the essence of his presidency in one of his brilliant editorial-page cartoons showed a huge motorcycle representing the presidency with outrigger training wheels and an infant Jimmy perched on the seat, barely able to reach the handlebars. Caption was simply " Vroom! Vroom!"
"Good enough" isn't.

carter was the real cold war pres, not ronny You've got to be kidding......... Carter will be remembered (much like Klintoon) for what he did after his presidency....meaning, in trying to find success somewhere else. Cause, he failed miserably as President. And except for Habitat for Humanity hasn't excelled at anything, his foreign policy has been a disaster. Huge embarrassment to America. To answer why was he elected? Carter was elected because Gerald Ford couldn't hold the White House after the dims screamed Watergate and crucified Nixon.
