Anyone do this? Did you use a “kit” available online? Just wondering the best way to accomplish this. Now that gas is so Biden I am thinking of doing most of my running around this summer on my motorcycle.

It was a performance gag from the1970s.

A comedian pretending he is riding motorcycle on the freeway.

He squints and yells, "BOY! AM I SAVING MONEY!"

Check your local regs and see what they require to be street legal. It don’t matter what it looks like to them so long as the specified pieces are in place and working.
Edited to add, I have pulled a Jon boat down the road with a flashlight taped to the back of it many times.

I'd do a CBA on converting a current dirt bike and just buying a used Ruckus or some other scooter if you're just looking to get around.

Would REALLY depend on the dirt bike - size, gearing etc.

The place to start is your MT. DMV to see if it is even possible. If your state is like WI., they go by the vehicle title and a dirt bike gets a Certificate Of Origen. Hanging a lighting kit and horn on a dirt bike won’t change the title. Bite the bullet trade your dirt bike in for something like a Yamaha TW200. It broke my heart to sell off a Honda XR 350 R Honda cheap just because it wasn’t an XL 350 and street legal. In Michigan they can make it legal, not in Wisconsin.

I hated my TW200, trading off suspension for a big wheel was a terrible idea. At least that was my experience riding my TW200 on Idaho trails.

It is legal in Montana to fully license a dirt bike for street use. Not buying a gay Ruckus or Bigwheel since I have this bike already. It has been sitting for years and I also want to get it out again without having to load it up in the truck. You need to be street legal to ride on any maintained public road, including forest service roads up in the mountains.

I think MT requires a headlight, tail/brake light, a horn, and at least one mirror. Several companies make kits, Tusk is one that comes to mind. Your big problem could be that you 650R does not have any type of charging/electrical system capable of supporting the new load.

Used to be easy here in NC, but now it is practically impossible to make a dirt bike street legal.

No, they don’t.

They’ll give you a plate for anything. Two strokes included.

In the majority of states, if a motorcycle title is designated 'offroad use' it can't be used on-road. It must be re-titled for 'road-use'.

Two lads here told me they had their Title work done in South Dakota, also bought brake/headlight/signals/horn there. One bike is a Honda CR-450 motocross bike, now titled for street use.

In Montana all you need is a title and somewhere to bolt the plate on it.
