6A has the most elk of any unit, don't overlook the rattlesnake quiet area, you will have to hike in and pack an elk out though. Get there early and scout the days prior.

Kent What Kent said above is solid advice. The Unit has a lot of elk but a lot of hunting pressure. Getting away from people will be key. Be ready to hike in somewhere and ready to pack a bull out. It can be rugged in many places. I prefer hunting in the pinion juniper country as opposed to the Ponderosa country.

they will be where you find them, but go high in warmer weather, they generally move downslope with some snow. depends also how much hunting has happened in area in the hunts before you. hunts start in mid-august, they will be kind of jumpy by November.
also agree with hunting the PJ (pinon-juniper)
can be thick and disorienting if you don't know the landmarks and the country. gps is not a bad idea in the PJ.
if it is wet, they will spread out, if dry, you will see locals sitting on most of the tanks.
Good luck. ATV will get you into some good country, but to have elbow room, you will have to walk.
...Actually Sycamore, you are sort of right....
