Some boys in south Texas told me about these, nothing but low scrub brush in some places, no place for a tripod. They use boxes like this, 4’x6’, this was a rifle stand left there, converted to bow shooting. It’s dark in there, even in bright sunlight. It’s good when you have rain too. I mostly hunt from tripods or tree stands. It’s good for Turkeys, keen eyed SOB’s can’t see you.

My dad and I have a small stand on a piece of property we hunt on here in WV that looks very similar to yours. The stand started out as a 4 x 4 affair that you just step into from the ground. We dubbed it the "Outhouse" stand. A few years later we tore out one wall and basically doubled its size and its now about 7 x 4 but we still call it the outhouse stand. In years past, its become a good spot for all of us that hunt that property and there has been deer taken with rifle, and crossbows both, and last year, my dad and I both killed a fall turkey from the "out house " stand.

It seems it keeps your scent from getting out, noise in that box doesn’t seem to bother the deer. Aoudads are extremely wary, good for hunting them. I think Aoudads and pigs have better noses than whitetail

I converted an old pump house into a bow box, over a water hole for Antelope. It’s worked well. Mostly use pop up tents, the game in this part of the country moves around a lot. It’s helpful to be mobile.

Have used similar to kill antelope over a waterhole. Recently just use pop up blinds as they work just as well and are less 'permanent'?

I hunted antelope out of blinds made from the “sleeper” off of wrecked semi trucks. They’re set out permanently near ponds and fence crossings and the antelope get used to them. I shot my antelope at 15 yards, a friend got his at 20 yards.

Here's one we used to use for antelope and a typical setup. I have found that it really doesn't matter if you put them up a month in advance or a day in advance or even a few hours in advance. Last year's buck was killed from a pop up that I set up just a couple hours before a P&Y buck came in. (The truck is parked 1/4 mile+ away when hunting)

It’s funny they don’t pay much attention to a bow box or a popup. If you are in a tripod, you best be still.
