I need a scope base for an old 98 mauser , one piece or two.

also wanted a serviceable butt stock for a Browning A-5 12 ga. A resurrection build so condition not critical, just not cut short.

Does it have the charging slot on the bridge? That matters.

Then you need one like this with the clearance for the raised portion of the bridge. This one is also notched for bolt handle clearance. If your rifle’s one with only three holes drilled, one in the bridge, you’re stuck with a one-piece that matches or having the fourth hole D&Td. Sometimes, really old ones may have holes that don’t line up with any current bases. My 1948 FN came with a Buehler base that hung out over the receiver ring, and the rear hole was out of position for any current one-piece. Had a second hole drilled in the bridge so any two-piece works.
