Get what ever 130 factory bullets shoot best out of it and go.

The .270 gets the quickest kill award for any animal I have shot.

I shot a doe a few years back with a M70 feather weight in .270. Standing with head down eating or sniffing a trail. Shot just behind the shoulder. When the recoil settled and I could see. All I could see was 4 legs sticking up in the air. It was dead, and I mean not even a twitch.

DITTO on the 130s. My step-son's Ruger likes Winchesters and model 70 prefers Remingtons -- go figure.

Try a few brands of 130 bullets and H4831 powder. I have had several .270's and they all liked 60 grains of H4831.

If you are shooting factory ammo try Hornady Custom or Federal Premium.

130 bullets work great if put right behind the shoulder. It's a bang flop with lung/heart soup.
Most factory loads work well. And like Straydog I like Hornady Customs and Fed Premiums.
I have Browning 270 Win and a FN 270 Win both shoot 1 inch or better groups.
One of my rifles likes Straydog's load of 60 grains of H4831 and the other likes 57 grains of IMR 4350. These loads are near or over max so start lower and work up to them.

Utah, sorry I missed that thread.
130 grain bullet over 60 grains of H4831 makes a darn good load.

What they said, I've used nothing but H4831 with 130's for all my deer loads. I've tried the old Winchester Silvertip (not the Ballistic Tip, but the old aluminum cap one) it blew up on a deer's neck. The rest have been with Nosler Partitions and I've never had a problem with them.

One of my 270's, a Model 70 Classic Stainless with a walnut stock purchased when they first came out, has a tight chamber and I can only go to 59.5 grains. At 60 grains the primer appearance makes me nervous (and that 0.5 grains makes all the difference in the world for that rifle).

It's hard not to find a good deer load. My favorite load is with 150 gr. speer bullets and either h-4831 or rl-22 powder. I finally shot a deer last year with a factory load, 130 gr. core lokt. No complaints.

130 Gr. Sierra with 46.5 grs of 4831 "THATS THE TICKET" I can't think of a deer that I have shot with the 130 gr.Sierra that took more than ONE SHOT! Bang Flop.

Mathman, you're right, it doesn't look right.
I thought he meant 64.5 grs but when checked that could not be right either.

I think he meant 56.5. My favorite load with 130s is a little bit more, but that's in the ballpark.

My favorite .270 load for deer, 55 gr 4350 and the Hornaday 130 gr flatbase bullet. It puts the hammer down! BT

55 grains of IMR 4350 and a 130 Ballistic Tip is the cat's ass in every 270 I've known. That load looks very good over a crony too.

That is probably what he meant.

An excellent example of why it is always a good idea to cross check any load that you see posted on the internet (or anywhere else for that matter). Typo's happen!

I have a feeling from using H4350 in a 25-06 with excellent accuracy that it would also be very good in a .270.

Starting around 52 grains and working up to around 55. This would be a load I would have to try if I was tinkering with .270 load development.
