Of the ones on here who carry pocket Revolvers what brand, caliber and model do you carry? Have been contemplating getting one for house carry. BTW I probably will never carry it outside the property. Except to the range and back. Otherwise I carry a 45 Auto or a Smith M69
Thanks I would look for used 37-2 DAO originally made for Japanese Police. The extra guns S&W had were offered to the public for sale. These have bobbed DAO hammer and were the most compact .38 Special revolvers S&W ever made.

LCR. I carry the .357 version with 38's. Main reason for me was to carry .357's with shot. Aside from that, the 38 version is lighter.

Speaking of the Taurus 85.......my ex wife had given me one as a gift many years ago. When my daughter went away to college, I gifted it to her and she's had it ever since. It is the Model 85 "Ultralight" with an alloy frame, but is still +P rated!

I usually go with a .380, but sometimes still do a S&W 340 loaded with Federal HST .38 +P

Since I have retired from the LE game, I have S&W 642, or Glock 43. I alternate between the two, Warmer months, the j frame is in my pocket. Cooler months the the 43 gets the most reps.

So, what did you do to otherwise law abiding citizens you caught with a handgun in their glove compartment while you were serving as a police officer in Maryland?

Smith & Wesson 642-1 in an uncle mike's #3 for the last 15 or so years. Loaded with the old Federal Nyclads.

I carried one of the old thin barrel Detective Specials for a while. But I just never could warm up to snub revolvers just because I never could shoot them very well. LCPs are my pocket rockets of choice these days. I recently bought an LCP Max and I like it. But I also like my old original LCP with the Hogue slip on grip and the 13 lb Galloway precision spring.
I've got a 1920 Colt Police Positive in .32 Long that would disappear in my pocket easily enough if I wanted to pocket carry a revolver. But it's too pretty for that,..and besides, it's a big step down from either 7 or 11 rounds of warm .380 handloads.

The_Real_Hawkeye Thanks, I think so too. They're Altamonts- that particular model was recently discontinued.

I've carried a number of them over the years. From the Taurus 85, to the S&W 642, S&W 36, Colt Detective Special, but when it comes right down to it, it's hard to beat the Ruger LCR. Easy to carry. Because I've had one for so many years I'd have a tough time getting rid of my Detective Special, 3rd generation.

On the very rare instances I carry a pocket revolver it is either an H&R break open in 38 S&W or equally old Iver Johnson revolvers in 32 S&W or 38 S&W. These are grabbed in place of a 22 when I just want to carry something different but think I might have to shoot something.
I'm not "Bad, bad Leroy Brown, who carries a 32 gun in his pocket for fun" so they don't make it out into public unless I'm showing them for some reason. I don't carry a razor in my shoe but my Spyderco is pretty sharp.

The S&W early m60 .38 Special only +P rated came close, but to get half the weight with the same .38 Special +P ammo a pre-lock S&W 337 PD at only 12 ounces loaded took its place. S&W only made that pre-lock version for two years and the lock version for another two, so they are pretty rare. Not fun to shoot, but it disappears in a front pocket.
My other auto is a .45

This has been going with me more and more. May not be a real man stopper, but it would sure hurt like hell to eat 8 of those little hollow points.

I have a nickled Charter Arms Undercover .38 spl, 2" barrel, their version of a S&W M-36, circa 1978 that I came into cheap. Had to smooth up the cylinder release with a file, but works real nice now. The hammer was rubbing a bit on the frame, but a couple of shims solved that issue. I had my gunsmith bob the hammer so it doesn't hang up when carried in either pants or coat pocket. Added a bit of neon green paint to the back side of the front sight and a Hogue grip. This turned it into a nice handy pocket carry that is easy to shoot and as reliable as any. I keep it loaded with handloaded 130 gr. Federal HST hollowpoint wadcutters over 3.6 gr. of Titegroup for 803 FPS. The action is pretty smooth and is accurate and potent quite well for any personal defensive need I might anticipate. If I'm out in the woods or fishing at a lake, I load a couple of snake shot loads up first in it.
