Probably a post in vain, but I have taken a dump on the 30-06 for many years (I am only 36), as it is too "hum-drum" and everyone has one. I'd never owned one. I have 1/2 a billion other calibers, and have made quite an effort to NOT get a 30-06 chambered rifle.
Now, for some reason, I have to have one.
I do not want a Remington. I have a Winchester 70 Sporter III in 7 Mag. I absolutley love the way it feels, but it is spotty in the accuracy department, even after bedding it.
I would love to find a 30-06 in a 70 LH. Sure everyone else would as well.
Just asking if there is anyone out there that may need money for another great project and have one to pass along, or as I think Jim in Idaho, pass along a sighting of a rifle from across the US for me to scoop.
Wasn't there a post of an auction for LH 375 and 300 this week ?
Lastly, are there any current, valid rumors of a Winchester return in '08 ? If so, I'd imagine the wait for any more lefties would start all over again.
Did anyone get a stainless lefty 70 about 7 years ago ??
Please God, give me some good tags this year....

Please God, give me some good tags this year....

It probably won't help any to say that I had two NIB left hand Model 70's up until recently. The .30-06 LT was sold a few months ago and the .270 Sporter went to a very good home just a few weeks ago. They're out there but are definitely getting few and far between. I check www.gunbroker.com every few days and search for "winchester left" and "winchester lh". Mostly what you see are the WSM's but I've seen a LH stainless .270 a while ago, the above mentioned .375 and .338 just this past week*, and two or three .30-06's have turned up within the past few months. Prices are all over the place, that's for sure. *That blue/walnut .375 Safari Express is up to over $1600 with a day left. Day-um!! I sold my NIB left hand Safari Express for under $900 last year. Oh, well. Wonder what I could get for my LH stainless .375 from the Custom Shop? Never mind, it's part of a matched pair and not for sale unless someone offered me a ridiculously ridiculous price for them.

I wanted to buy that stainless 270 that was on gunbroker. I emailed them and told them I would buy it now for what they were asking and they told me I had to go through gunbroker. I'm not putting my credit card number on that site just to be a member.
I really want a left handed 270 Model 70. If you see one post it on the site and I will more than likely buy it if its in descent condition.

I bought one last year for my daughter from a guy who used to post here. Daughter got married and moved to Ireland, so the rifle is on the block. Problem is that I live in Canada, and the stock has been shortened to fit a 5'5" female. I have two stocks for it and one is full length but not completely inletted. It has perhaps 40 rounds downrange. Pretty nice piece.

I have an as new blued .270 Win Lh classic that someone could probably talk me out of. (It is currently living in a case under a bed with "Donor" toetag on it.) Screw a featherweight contour barrel on it, get one of the Mickey compact stocks on the Christmas sale, and you would have an ideal (IMHO) rig.

Give scheels in billings montana a call. They have a M70 lh .270wsm brand new for I believe $659. They had a hell of a selection of LH M70's shortly after winchester discontinued the M70. One of the dipsh!t salesman informed me that the $850 price tag was a steal. I was back in a couple days ago and asked him if the $659 price was because this one didn't get stolen.
I'd try jewing them down also. This thing isn't flying out their door.

If you can find any lefty Winchesters, you'd best grab'em! I am fortunate to have 4 lefty SS M70's, plus, 2 chrome moly versions. It is my understanding that Winchester is doing some re-design/improvements to the venerable M70, but, there is no lefty version slated for production. Bummer!

Dang, That was just what I've been looking for and now it's sold! I looked for one shortly after I heard Winchester was going out and couldn't find one. I did purchase a new featherweight in 270 WSM but it's not the same. I'll keep looking for an O'Connor gun till I find a nice one. 2Seventy

I would have bought that rifle if I would have seen the link sooner. Those rifles are so hard to find.

Looks like someone paid the "buy it now" price. The auction started on 10/21 and was supposed to run for 7 days but ended one day later.

2Seventy.
I'm almost certain I looked at one last week in scheels of st waite park mn.
Scheels: 320-252-9494 40 Waite Ave N Waite Park, MN
they had a bunch of lefty M70's & I'm almost certain one of them was a 270 NIB
might be worth a shot.
