Cooked up a nice chuck roast today. Man, is it tasting good too ! Mashed taters, homemade gravy, fresh peas with some butter. YUM

What is you're favorite cut of meat for a pot roast ?

I like a chuck roast too. I like to cut little slits in it and stuff them with garlic cloves.

My wife normally goes with chuck roast with some potato pieces, carrots and celery and a package of beefy onion soup mix. On the side, rice or mashed potatoes, and green beans with mayo/horseradish sauce. For us there’s usually enough for a couple of nights and then a lunch or two as an open face roast beef sandwich.

An elk shoulder roast cooked the same way as a pot roast is hard to beat.

Big chuck roast seasoned with Brown Sugar Bourbon seasoning. Throw it on the smoker about 3 a.m., go back to bed for a couple hours.

Get up and take it off about 7 a.m., put it in a big pan with 5 lbs of cut up yellow potatoes, baby carrots, 64 oz or so of beef broth, and maybe a packet of onion soup mix, cover tightly with foil and, depending on cold or warm weather, either put it back in the smoker, or inside in the oven for another 5 hours at 300 degrees.

Pork shoulder roast?

But a chuck roast works really well too.
