Seems like such a common procedure anymore. How many fire members join the bionic hip club?

My dad has had both done.

One about 6 yrs ago. The other almost 2 yrs.

Don’t be hard headed and do the therapy.

I think he rushed the second one.

My younger brother just got one a few weeks ago. Seems to be doing ok but a longer recovery than I expected. But he did have a whole hip replaced.

December 22 will be 2 years. In my case walking was/is the best therapy. My dr doesn’t believe in it for hips. Don’t do anything in therapy that gives you pain were his instructions to me.

My hips are fine, I need to have a torn Meniuses cleaned up, and cataracts removed from both eyes.

My mom (82) got a new hip last week. They sent her home in 2 days.

She won't be skydiving this weekend, but she is sleeping well and doing better already.

I had both hips ( ball & sockets ) replaced about 5 or 6 years ago.

A funny thing, not really, happen a week ago. I was in the big town for some Moes treatment on my face. Finished that, went to eat every thing fine.

Was sitting in the car visiting with a friend. I felt like I was getting a cramp in my leg. Had a hard time getting out of the car. when I stepped down I

knew something was wrong. A visit to the ER showed that my hip ball had popped out of the socket. They put it back and we are still trying to

find out what if anything needs to be done. Can`t get in a car, and have a brace on the leg. Going to town today to see a Dr.

Old age sure is interesting.

Count me in!
June '05 - left hip ball and socket.

Damaged the original in a car wreck.
Do you remember Walter Brennan playing "Grandpappy Amos" on "The Real McCoy's"?
He walked around, bent over and hobbling.
The surgeon described it as a "transitional lurch".
The turning point was when I couldn't sit comfortably and rock my grandson to sleep.
Doctor didn't prescribe PT. "Just get up and walk."

Car wreck (1991) dislocated my left hip and about 1/3 of the head of the femur sheared off.
I was offered an implant at the time, but opted to just have what was there put back together.
By 2004, the hip was bone on bone and the natural padding was gone.
Lower back pain caused by pelvis being tilted.
In 2019, the surgeon told me unless I had problems, he didn't need to see me again.
I cross my legs to put my socks on.
I sleep (?) with a pillow between my knees.

My biggest question?
Why did I wait so long?

When folks tell me they're putting off a hip implant, I encourage them not to wait.
A hip implant is the easiest joint surgery to recover from.

Congrats on your new hip and less pain!

In rehab with the new left knee as we speak. Mine has gone well.

Got the right knee done 5 years ago. Both were way out of warranty.
