I have 2 Vanguards. 1st has a Leupold VX6HD 3-18x44. Just put a VX5HD 3-15x44 on it. Very happy with both.

Some mornings, it just does not feel worth it to chew through the straps!~

Sightron's S-TAC 3-16 with the MOA reticle would be a good one.

Good shootin' - Al

What’s your budget? Do you want First or second focal plane? If F2, as I would assume, and given you have the budget I don’t think you can do any better for a medium to long-ish range scope than a Nightforce NXS 3–15 X 50. Not the lightest, but you’ll likely never need to question your scope, ever.

Lots of good options out there these days. Maybe give us a little more to go on. Avoid Leupold and Vortex IMO. Much better choices out there if you value reliability.

The Zeiss V4 4-16x50 is what I just put on my most accurate hunting rifle a 46 year old 7mm RM. On sale for less than $800 it’s hard to beat. The glass is exceptionally clear & while it’s a decent sized scope it’s not huge or heavy. It replaced a Leupold 4.5-14 that was lighter and prettier but lost zero on a not terrible drop.

Just starting to get it dialed in but it will make 500 on a calm day a fairly routine shot. Tracks well depending on the reticle can be super quick to way out there. I have the 6-24 on a 6.5 creedmoor and with cheap factory ammo was hitting 12”x24” targets at 1100 yards.

I have a Zeiss 3x13x56 on my 257 Wby because of the 1 hour after sunset law we have here in SC. Turrets and Ballistic reticles will not get you there. The scope Specneeds mentioned would be a good choice as well.

Hunting rifle, keep it lighter so Id go with 3-12, don’t really need any more than that. Maybe the new tract 2.5-15 or a meopta optika 5 3-15 if you feel the need to have more.
Here is man silhouette gong at 850 ish yards on 12 power.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Agree on the Meopta Optika5 3-15 or even the 4-20 with a Z-Plus reticle so that you can dial in the bullet drops. The first lefthanded rifle I bought decades ago is a .257 WbyMag, love that rifle and caliber. I have taken dozens of TX deer and a lot of 200+ pound Kansas bucks as well. All 1 shot stops. Check out the Optika5 rifle scopes, quality European glass, and built tough.

Doug can probably help you too.

I kept mine simple - Nikon Prostaff 4-12 with LRR and BDC. I don’t have worry about focusing for different distances and the BDC is real handy for longer shots.

I love the Leupold VX3. You could even get the new CDS dials to match your load and then you just turn the dial to the range and sent it on it way.

I have a Leupold VX6 3-18 on mine. Thought about changing it out to a Nightforce F1 but have not.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

I want to keep it sleek May even stick to a 1”tube 3-14 power range is what I would like sfp or ffp won’t be a deal breaker I picked up a 4-12 Leupy vxr with cds placed it in a set of rings but it just looks to bulky on the rifle I may just look for a 4.5-14 leupy 1”tube to put on it Don’t know yet looking at other brands as well The search continues

I understand aesthetics, but a 1” tube will only handicap the potential of your very capable rifle.
