Mr. Mauser96:
I grew up east of Yorkton and spent a few years in Nipawin, then we farmed by Yorkton for a bit, but left in 84.
I suppose that might make me part of the alumni without a current membership?
I still have 2 sets of serious drop-offs from the home quarter. People see them in our garage and ask where they are from? I tell them from a bit east of here.

Dwayne

Mr. stubblejumper:
It seems the world is not so large sometimes, eh?
Maybe we ran into each other back in the day?
We used to cruise Yorkton unless we got asked to leave by the constabulary. Loved the Venice House pizza too

I visited Venice often in my teen years. They were kind enough to have those seats with removable top cushions to deposit our empties in.lol.I spent a few nights at the drive in as well.I used to buy my hunting supplies at Lutchers or Yorkton Cycle.

Mr. woofer:
You sir, are not too far off the truth!

When my wife shot her first Whitetail buck, wed been sitting in a blind on the edge of our alfalfa for about 1 hours at -38 or so.

The buck came out, so she shot it, stood up and walked back towards where the truck was instead of to the buck!
She said something about me being capable of getting the buck and needing to thaw out before she could get excited about anything.

Some nice deer there though.

Regards
Dwayne

BC30cal, I'm also originally from Yorkton (stubblejumper may remember that from previous correspondence). Have done quite a bit of deer hunting around there. (I know the drills; Venice House after the tower theatre and bought my first box of shells at Lutcher's.)

It never ceases to amaze me how small Western Canada can be!

West Central Sask--antelope, mule deer, white tail, elk and moose country--as good as it gets.

My original response could have been better, sorry! - I live in Bruno, just E of Saskatoon. I hunt for pretty much everything in Saskatchewan - Concentrating on birds this week ( huns and sharptails with my pointing dog yesterday, and ducks/geese tomorrow) then off for a week of elk & ruffed grouse, then antelope, then mule deer and later on in November we'll hunt for whitetails. The moose hunt is done already, and I'll probably keep hunting waterfowl till they're gone and re-start upland for huns and pheasant in the December season. We certainly have lots of opportunity!

I have to agree with castnblast....was raised and lived in the Saskatoon area for 42 yrs., and the hunting opportunities couldn't be better. Here in B.C. hunting is more difficult unless you know where to hunt for the particular species you're after. Even after hunting here for 18 seasons I have a hard time to fill the freezer.
In all honesty though, theres only one thing my old bones don't miss about Saskatchewan and that is the -40 below zero days.
Having said that, one couldn't find a better place to live.

...the hunting opportunities couldn't be better...

Hmmm, how are the Stone's Sheep, Dall's Sheep, Cali. Bighorn, RM Bighorn, RM Goat and Grizzly populations doing in "Flatearth" ?????

I always gotta chuckle at immigrants to BC, who seem to find their homeland/region BETTER than it is here, BUT, they seem to stay here, for some reason......

About all Saskachewan has that BC doesn't is Pronghorn hunting and while that IS something well worth having, the idea that anywhere east of about Edson, AB, even BEGINS to compare with BC, well, I have heard tales about Prairie Moonshine........

Me, I would trade ALL of Canada east of the McKenzie Mts. in the NWT to the USA for ALASKA, be a hell of a deal!!!! BC, YT, Alaska western AB and NWT, now THAT is country!!!!!

That oughta liven things up!

B.C rednecks and Alaskan rednecks would be a perfect fit.One heck of a country too.
