Mine will definitely see some time in the deer woods this year. I've saved several old model Anacondas in .45 Colt in my Gunbroker "watchlist" but figure 'bout the time I pull the trigger on one, Colt will come out with a new model in .45 Colt. So, I'm impatiently holding out. For now.

I think the new gun iis higher quality than old. Mine is finished well, super slick and accurate. Shooting at 25 yards yesterday and put a cylinder of 240 XTPs loaded with 296 and cylinder of 310 LFNs loaded hot into a combined group of 1.5”. Also shot some cheap 245 bevel base SWC loaded to about 1100 into about an inch, though 2” lower than the other load.
Only complaint is heavy single action pull, supposedly because of California drop requirements. I will get that fixed

Bro, you shot 1" and 1.5" groups @25 yards. What's a lighter single action pull gonna do for ya'? What would you gain? Those size groups at 25 yards are pretty much a gold standard, from my point of view, and most others too. When I have a revolver shooting 1" groups @25 yards, trigger pull be damned, I ain't changing nuthin.' Not trying to argue with ya,' just thinkin' aloud here.

It took a lot of focus. Trigger is a stout pull. Surprised it shot that well.

I don’t think they’re being sold in the PRK yet. :-(

Sorry to hear that and while the rest of the country suffers through the CA mandated trigger. Single-action is almost as heavy as double-action. Once that's fixed, this is going to be an incredible revolver.
I've shot most if not all models of .44 double-action revolvers, including the old Anacondas. This new gun with a trigger job will be in my opinion about the best of the bunch.

Man, you're gonna talk me into buying an 8" too. Too barrel heavy. I would love to see them go the other way and build a 5" Anaconda. I would buy one, maybe two, of those.

I qualified with my old Colt 8 inch year’s ago. The indoor ranges was in the basement of a senior center. As I walked by a table of old timers playing cards, I told them it’s gunna get noisy. They scoffed and barely looked up from theirs card game.
After the 18 round course we walked back through where they were playing cards. One of the old guys says JC, what the hell were you shooting?, it shook the table.😂😂

I looked at one yesterday, too damned big, and too damned heavy, for my tastes, anyway. It was an 8" version, too. I don't much like them that damned big.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

Mr. Taffins review closely matches my experience with the new Anaconda.
I would love to see a shorter barrel Anaconda or a better yet, a new Python in .41 Mag or .44 Special (5-shot cylinder?). I'm currently using a police trade-in Glock 22 for my do-everything, carry gun. A bigger-bore Python with accuracy to match the Anaconda might convince me to replace the Glock for that.

Does anyone have any inside info about the possibility of .45 or .454 versions?
Would the new, beefier frame handle .454? Seems like it should.
Passed up a .45 in the original many years ago. Silly me.

The cylinder would definitely be long enough for .454. Not sure if the gun would handle the pressure but I assume it would.

Is the quality of the new ones equal to the older production models? I know it ain't so with the newer production King Cobras vs 80's/90's.

In my experience, the new Anacondas are head and shoulders above the old ones from a quality standpoint. My dad had one he bought new and a couple of his friends had them. My dad's 1980s Anaconda was roughly finished and the chambers were rough enough rounds were hard to eject. He sold his Anaconda and kept his Ruger Redhawks if that tells you anything. The new one is well-finished, the chambers are slick and will I'm pretty sure outshoot a 1980s model.
