Who doesn't love the 6.5x55 Swede? It's an easy shooting, accurate round. I have two, old and new. 1899 Carl Gustaf M96/38 with all matching numbers. Picked up years ago when they were a dime a dozen. Paid a few hundred bucks for this. Slickest action ever and a bore that looks brand new. I keep telling myself that I'm going to take it deer hunting but haven't yet. And my Ruger Hawkeye "African." It will shoot under an inch at 100 yards with PPU 139 gr soft point boat tails. I just ordered a few boxes of Lapua 155 grain soft points. Looking forward to seeing how they do.

Nice looking rifle. I've kept my eye open for a Husqvarna but haven't pulled the trigger on one. I did bid on one in another caliber and lost.

I've had good luck with 640s and 1640s from Simpsonltd. But if you need a new stock and aren't in Canada, that can be a pain.

That's a helluva nice rifle. A single shot in 6.5x55 would be awesome. I missed out on a new Wichester low wall a few months ago. Waited too long and the dealer sold it.

No pictures, but I have 2 6.5x55 rifles.
1. Ruger 77 MK/II stainless with a PacNor barrel and Hawkeye walnut stock. Shoots 140 Speer Gold Dots great!
2. Tikka T3 fluted with graphite black cerakote by Karl Kampfeld, camo factory stock. Also a great shooter!

Tikka T3, fluted stainless Hunter Sears Mod 52, tarted up to look like a Supergrade M70. Lots of time & work went into this one. It started as a stockless, rusty box of parts.

Great round! I have three model 96' s in full military guise that I had intentions of sporterizing. Luckily I left them intact after acquiring a sporterized by Kimber model 96 and a bubbad model 96 that my father took and turned into a nice hunting rifle. The kids in the family all preferred the 6.5 x55 over the .243 when we were starting them hunting. My niece now uses my (her) kimber as her primary rifle.
That Ruger African pictured above is spectacular!
I've seen pictures posted by Geedubya on this site of a Sako Bavarian that I thought was a beautiful rifle and I have lusted for one like it ever since.

I've shown mine many times here. I also know where one is even nicer than mine and the price is stellar..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA
