Just tried some Red Breast Irish whisky.
Pretty good stuff. been drinking two Gingers.
This is a big step up from it, but costs three times as much.
I still like single malt Scotch the best (LaFroig) SP?

Red Breast is nice whiskey. My problem is I discovered it and several other fine whiskies before the boom in brown spirits so the current market situation is disheartening to me.

Andalusia Stryker Smoked Single Malt Whiskey.
Agree about the Luxardo cherry. I did not like that stuff at all.

I never got into top shelf booze. I’d rather save the money or spend it on something else.
I can see where a $20-$25 1/5 is better than the cheapest but much after that it all taste about the same to me. Especially after a couple of drinks or mixed with Diet Coke. There are three basic liquor groups: Premium: You have to drink it straight or maybe on the rocks to appreciate its quality. Decent: You can drink it straight but you can't tell the difference between it and Premium if you mix it. Cheap: You have to mix it to get it down.

Old Forrester or Makers Mark. Once in a while use brown sugar for a change up.

Do yourself a favor and grab a bottle of whistle pig piggyback 6 year rye. Makes a great old fashion.

Four Roses small batch - Super smooth.. top 2 for most people…. Best for the ladies because it’s has so little bite to it.
Horse Soldier Single barrel - Wow, it’s 4 four roses with an edge / bit of bite… Very nice
Bullet Burbon - Very good, it’s really smooth but has a bit of tone to it, not a bite, but an edgy oak or tanin flare to it.
Good stuff… Caught a podcast a week or two ago. Couple of founders of Horse Soldier was on. Backstory is, they were they actual guys the 12 strong movie is based on. Currently building a bigger disterelly to ramp up production.

Old Fashions are a big thing down here in the South along with Mint Juleps and Sazeracs. My three favorite cocktails! Some the best I have had were in Charleston. I collect bourbons and if there is one I'm not crazy about neat or on ice, I will use it for the cocktails. Although I don't often use wheated bourbons in the cocktails, I find a little more bite works better with the added sugar. As far a cherries, I'm in Michigan so I choose Traverse City Whiskey Co cherries: https://www.tcwhiskey.com/product/premium-cocktail-cherries/?radius=20Cheers! 405wcf

Like my bourbon straight…or as the fancy folk might say…”neat”. I'm with you. Only time I ever make a mixed drink with bourbon is when I end up with a bottle of something schitty..............like Maker's Mark, Evan Williams or Ezra Brooks, to name a few. I'll mix those with Pepsi rather than pour them down the drain.

Roger's Moonshine.
It's the best there is. No offense to Rog, but the “best” moonshine sure as Fugk isn’t made in Texas. Franklin Co. Virginia is a good place to start the search.

Buffalo Trace is a pretty good all-around bourbon.
