I've taken it deer hunting a time or two.. usual ammo I load for it, is 30 grains of 4198, with a 140 gr SP... MV is like 2400 fps.. that old stock design tho.... with that load it kicks less than a full throttle load out of one of my 223s... I enjoy the hell out of my old Swede.... Didn't really know if I wanted to shoot in the military rifle shoots my club has, but I figured what the hell... Its nice because it gives me practice from the weak side. I told that to the club president and he said, "bullshit, you don't have a weak side". ha ha.. I can't take all the credit though, that dang Carl Gustav m96 just about shoots itself. Have another 6.5X55 made on a 1935 Mauser action, but I don't have a picture of it yet. They all shoot great as any fan of the 6.5X55 would expect.
