Got my 16" square of blacktail tanning ,got the rhode island red hackle ready for winter. Can't wait to tie some shrimp, nymphs and shad flies for spring open. anyone elsetan their own hides for flies. Dave

Nope, but liberal applications of borax or alum prior to drying seem to keep the critters and aroma at bay. Since I have no plans to retain small portions of hides, I don't go to the trouble of tanning. 1Minute
