Have several Midway and Pac-Nor barrels for a left-hand Savage 116 which was originally a 30/06. Now trying to put a Midway 416 Taylor barrel on it. Have a Midway supplied magnum bolt head. Discovered there is a change in the size of the firing pin hole. The magnum bolt head has a smaller firing pin hole, which is a change from earlier models. Midway does not have a left-hand magnum bolt head with the larger size firing pin hole.

Have an extra standard '06 bolt head. Which is better ? Try to open the extra '06 bolt head to magnum size or increase the firing pin hole in the magnum bolt head ?

Hammer, Contact Sharp Shooter Suply in Dolphus OH. The owner is Fred Moreno. the shop specializes in Savage specialties. I think he will have the extra parts you need which will include the new firing pin and the head reating pin with the smaller hle for the firing pin. There may be others as well.

It would be an easy job to redrill the hole to a larger size, and save you a few bucks at the same time. the bolt bead it not a hardened part and will drill easily.

As recommended, contacted Fred Moreno at Sharp Shooter Supply. Received completely assembled proper bolt head for H&H Magnum. Have switched between original 30/06 and the new magnum one a couple of times. Everything seems to work fine.

Fred Moreno is also sending a PPC bolt head assembly. Will then have 223, PPC, '06, and H&H Magnum -- all on one rifle.

Any ideas on how to get a 460 Weatherby bolt head on a Savage 116 bolt gun ?
