Neighbor gonna sell some guns to make some salary cap room for a swimming pool.
Has a Rem 7600 synthetic in .243 will sell me for a good price. Have no interest in a .243, but am thinkin would make a handy woods gun in .358 with a Leupy 2.5-8x36 I have laying around.
Anybody have a 7600 in .358?

I don’t but my brain would is tracking the same as you. 338 Federal or 358 Win. Send it with 250 bucks and I’d bet it’d be awesome. Ask for a 1-10 either way.
Maybe chop to 20” and you have a wicked handy killer.

Whelen Nut has a 760 that was reamed from a 35 Rem. Don't recall if his is 20" or 18" - I think the latter. I read recently in the link below that greenmtndave has one. New England Deer Hunters Zeroing Thread

If the rechamber and rebore is done right one-shot deal, lots of them end up with to much headspace! Had one won't do it again.

I had an old 760 in 35Remington rechambered to 358Winchester. It was an easy conversion. Just rechamber and plug in a 308 mag. I'd rather have the 760 in 35Remington these days.

Someone on here has one....RustyZipper actually....he bought it from OlRufus on here. I know because I almost bought it from OlRufus...just as I was about to commit, I was notified that I won an auction for a 7600 Whelen carbine. To further the story...I traded RustyZiper my synthetic stock for that guns straight comb wooden stock.
I believe it was a JES reborn and cut to 18 or 20" if I recall correctly.
I have a 22" Whelen with a scope. I wanted a carbine for a ghost ring for nasty weather tracking and still hunting.

I love .358W.
I have data if you need it.
If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

I have one that was a .35 remington to start with and had Gander Mountain ream it to .358 Win. - it is the carbine version and is a very handy and accurate rifle (kinda had second thoughts when I saw what the original unaltered .35 Remington carbines have been selling for 🥴!!). I’m a .358 Win. slut though and think that this cartridge is seriously overlooked by most.

I have a 7600 in .358 Win. It started life as a .243 with 22" barrel and walnut stock that I bought new specifically for this project. I had Nathan Chesney at Hillbilly Custom Rifles here in VT do the conversion 10+ years ago using a 20" match grade Krieger barrel. I added a trigger job and black Kick-eez recoil pad cut to keep the stock LOP. So far, I have only run Hornady 200 grain factory ammo through it with very consistent results. It wears a Leupold VX-R 2-7x33 Firedot scope.
I previously owned factory 7600 carbines in .35 Rem and 35 Whelen, the .358 Win was an itch I had to scratch.
