Mainly size and price. I have had both. The CRF is a newer version from Leica. The CRF will fit in your shirt pocket and is much handier. I find my CRF has a better range than my old LRF. If I found a 1200 SCAN model in a LRF and it was at a bargain price I would be tempted to buy it. Check with Doug at Cameralandny.com and he can go into more detail.

the CRF is also waterproof to 3m, the LRF is not. the guts are pretty similar but the CRF is much more ergonomic.

I like the small size of the CRF, but the LRF seems easier to hold steady when ranging. I bought my LRF on sale from Doug last year and am pleased.
