I was down on my knees with knee pads on doing briar and poison oak removal at lunch today. Probably pinched him against me and got his dander up. Absentmindedly scratched at a tiny bump a few minutes ago and a pencil eraser sized chunk just rolls off.

Never felt it or saw it. Spiders are the only thing around here that rot flesh off of me like that - that sort of speed mainly being the indicator (only a few hours) - a bee, yellow fly or a few varieties of ants would do that but it would take days for me and I would feel them bite. We have a ton of biting/stinging things and they all love to eat/sting on me. We have a spider about every foot that I see and who knows how many I don't see - they're far and away the most common stinging things here. I was also covered up in bug juice every square inch. If I leave one square inch uncovered, the mosquitoes would bite me three times in that inch. If I go out without bug juice, they will have me covered in hundreds of bites in an hour. Oddly enough, they don't bite Mrs. Geno at all.

It didn't itch or anything, I only felt a bump but it burns now after I scratched a chunk off by accident, another indicator it's some sort of spider.

Ok , was wondering . We got a shiet load of recluse and black widow.
Got a scare one morning , got up for work and put boots on , felt something moving under my toes .
Thought , oh shiet , eased the boot off and banged it on the floor .
A big ass black widow fell out , male , but friggin big .
Figure the bite would have been painful and a miserable day climbing all day .
Always wore thick socks , helped arches and in this case might have saved a bite .
Some people have worse reactions to Venus than others . Be careful with them buggers
And a big 10/4 on the fuggin mosquito.
They see a bullseye on me .

Got nailed on the left bicep a year ago on the 11th.
Little itchy spot in the afternoon, pain starting mid afternoon, ER by midnight.
Dang, before that I thought I knew what pain was . . .
NO fang marks like I have seen in previous spider bites
Assumption by all was still UNKNOWN organism!
Finally healed up in February.

Still some little lumps down in the tissue.

From the looks of that scar, that leg is used to "injury".

Not only that but spider venom can cause extension arrhythmia issues. Its bad stuff to some folks they react very negatively to it.

Those thick socks will stop spider bites. You lucky.

It burned a little till midnight and then nothing. Today it's drying up so whatever kind it was is not very venomous. Kind of looks like a 2 day old fire ant bite that's close to it but bigger - three times the size. I forgot to wear real shoes and socks while riding an electric bike on a dove field and sprayed some up on my legs - that'll make you stop riding and dance around a bit.

As for injury - all my parts are used to it. It's hell when you get older. I used to shrug off 100 mph motorbike crashes with no gear in a few months. Not so much now - here I am whining about a bug bite. That scar looks way worse than it actually was. Took 18 double stitches to close but was only about a half inch deep.

My son got one when he was about 6. He swelled from his elbow to his deltoid. Antibiotics because the doc said the bites are dirty and steroids for the swelling. He had skin about the size of a quarter slough off. A friend of mine got bit by a spider on a brush fire and that was nasty for about 2 weeks.

Glad to hear it is better. I hate brown recluse spiders.

This was no recluse. Just some random garden spider if I had to guess. Recluse bites itch like hell initially and then burn like you've been set on fire with a lot of swelling. Then take months to get over.

Take a 16 penney nail, heat the head up red hot and nuke the bite like a man, I have done it.
