I thought I'd give you a quick update. Overall, I've been steadily improving. I started to feel halfway normal about a week ago.

Monday I was supposed to have a follow-up PET scan to see if the Cancer was really dead. Insurance refused the charges, so now I'm scheduled for a CT scan next week.

I've been making it to the farm on the weekends. We had a campout celebrating the 21st anniversary of acquiring the place. I stayed up at the house. I was finally able to taste scotch again. I'd been off of it since May.

Probably the best sign that things are on the mend is that my hair is coming back. It took about a month to get from barely-there to a visible shadow, but it is definitely growing. At about the same time, I was able to ditch the wool hat I'd been wearing since May. I don't feel perpetually cold anymore.

I'm able to putter again. I've been making trips to the basement to work on projects. I'm good for about an hour at a time. At the farm, I've been dealing with the Brown Bess and getting the deer rifles ready for season. I got Mooselette's 30-30 sighted in for Yute season in a couple of weeks. The 'Bess is an all-consuming mother of a project. I seem to be doing something with it almost every day now. Yesterday, I cast up some more .69 cal balls. I think I'll be able to take a deer with it in mid-October.

Details here: More with 'Bess

The next-door neighbor realized something was a bit off when the garbage cans started staying down at the curb back in May and saw me looking like . . . well, like a Cancer patient. He's been bringing up the cans for me. His latest boon was filling in the large pothole in my driveway that I'd been unable to attend to since winter. He's a nice guy.

I still can't feel my feet, and my fingertips are still tingly-- an after-effect of the bug juice. Doc put me on Cymbalta. It works just well enough that I notice the problem is worse just before my nightly dose. It isn't getting worse. About the worst I can say is that the numbness makes me a bit less sure on my feet. I had measurable hearing loss from the bug juice as well. It's annoying, but it isn't going to be a big problem.

Good to see you on the mend, just in time for deer season. Messing around at the deer camp can help with one's mind.

Even if you're only able to make it to the woods for an hour at a crack it beats sitting at home.

Hang in there! Glad your getting better. I was at doc yesterday, spot looks like skin cancer, they bio. It, should know in a week. Doc says she can cut it out, just not sure how deep. I'm good with cutting it out but said for 2 weeks I can't strain, or lift heavy things. Top of my shoulder. Guess it I shoot a deer I'll need help this now season.

Why would you want to taste Scotch? 😁

Sounds like you’re moving in the right direction. 😊
