Mine is classic Swede, very nice wood to metal finish with outstanding bluing/polish for the price range...It is on the truckish side being a tad heavy but since I blind and stand hunt nowadays not an issue.. Out of the box accuracy is as good as it gets IMO for a factory rifle, hated to see them discontinued.. I have that exact same rifle. Super easy to get an accurate load worked up. Solid and nice rifle. Wish I owned a few more!

I've had excellent luck with CZ550's. As mentioned, they're not the most svelte actions or stocks, but they build a hell-for-stout rifle that shoot very well with factory barrels. I've four: 308 Win, 300 Win Mag, 375 H&H, 458 Lott. All have shot MOA or better with numerous loads. Three of them have been altered by either American Hunting Rifles or Matrix Gunsmithing to include a single stage trigger, Win 70 style safety, action work, open sights, and bedding.

Imagine my anger at buying a cz550 and then chasing fliers all over the target. Different loads, bedding, nothing helped.
Finally sold it.
Put the scope on another rifle...fliers.
Arghhh....stupid stupid stupid!

I had one in 9.3X62. It shot very well, but I didn't like the fact that the safety was backwards to all my other rifles. I traded it in...It's not on the list of rifles that I wish I had kept.

Good solid action but certainly not as smooth and refined as others Yeah, kind of like an Interarms MKX. Some CZ's have plastic followers and 2 stage triggers are known to be weak. Rifle's as they come from the factory handle like schidt. Bing and clunky and heavy. All that can be made better by AHR.. Just saying. Left out they can be phenomenal shooters.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Nice rifles, but they should not be mistaken for Mauser 98 pattern rifles. They are lacking some refinements such as the guide rib on the bolt and that can lead to binding. A friend has them in both 9.3x62 and .416 Rigby. The longer throw of the Rigby bolt tends to bind. I believe they also lack the C ring for gas control.
Too close for irons, switching to scope...

Just an observation, but my 550 Lux always seemed trimmer and less clunky than the American models that I've handled. No hard data to confirm that, though...

Mine is as you describe, same as most rifles. I understand there were some made that the safety worked opposite of that - forward is safe and pull back to fire. Apparently, some have issues with that...

I had a BRNO/CZ rifle and the safety was backwards on that rifle, but my three CZ550's are all push forward to fire.I have two CZ550 Varmint 308 Win's and one CZ 550 Premium 30-06,great rifles they are.
