What is the calculation to determine the stability factor?

What constitutes an excellent/mediocre/poor score?

100 gr Speer HotCor shot well in a couple of my 1:14" twist rifles, but not in others. They measure .937-.940".

Sierra 90 gr HPBT shot well in the 1:14" twist, except for one. .908" (most accurate of any bullet used)

Some years back, a friend of mine gave me some Remington 100 gr CoreLokt's to try and they stabilized in the 1:14" twist rifles I had at the time. .928"

Sierra 100 gr SP bullets did not stabilize in any of my rifles. .956"

Life is simple now with either 1:10" or 1:14" twist rifles shooting the 87 gr Speer HotCor's. .835-.840"

I guess this applies to your point as well: I have a 1915 mfg. 250-3000 with an approx. 1-14 twist that shoots the 100 grain Speer OK, but has been much more accurate with the (discontinued?) 100 grain Sierra ProHunter.

On top of that it wouldn't surprise me if a Sierra out shot a similar Speer in most circumstances.

Has anyone ever measured a bullet of vintage Savage 87gr. ?
Or, dissected a vintage Savage 250 round? Case size? Powder?
How does a vintage Savage round stack up to current reloads?

Good question. I don't have any vintage factory rounds or I would sacrifice one.
