I'm not truly convinced these were "warning shots." I think he just missed. laugh

I don't think I would have allowed it as close as he did.
I think if he had wanted to kill it there'd have been a few more rounds fired.

May not have ended well if he fell over whilst walking backwards and fully focused on the putty tat!

He had a great kill shot way earlier in the video.

Looked to me at one point that cat was ready to leap.

I don't believe "warning shots" have much value for a predator with intent. Spooked the un-aware cat tho.

Based on a number of experiences with brown bears and wolves here in Alaska.

Loud noises are pretty much worthless on aware critters, IME. wolves excepted. Them things don't miss a bet. Don't waste the bullet- you might need it.

On critters unaware or uncertain of what you are, the human voice is far more effective than a "warning shot".

Ha! That cat was totally aware of him. He was def firing at the cat too. The fact that he hit the ground right in front of him seemed to be a big deterrent

He has much more confidence in his one handed walking backwards shot placement than I do in mine....if those were warning shots. I think I would have tried for a bit more "cushion" on the placement if warning was the intent.

I personally believe the cat had intent (not good), and as said already I would not have let it get that close if it were me. And if I was going to shoot I would have had intent also.

Big animal stalking me, there are no warning shots. Period.

First shot maybe a warning shot. But I'd put more money on he flinched when he saw it start to pounce and the gun discharged and he got really lucky that the cat hesitated.

Second shot clearly missed was because captain goober snatcher couldn't shoot worth a [bleep].

I saw that he hit the cat in the left paw with the first shot.

It looks like the cat was limping away at the end of the video.

???

Those weren't "warning shots". The guy was rattled and flinched.

I think you are spot on. And look at the cats ears right before he shoots. They are back in an aggressive manner. I think he handled it pretty well

But I also bet he got back to camp before dark that day!

That’s not a cougar stalking, the cat is attempting to chase the guy off. See how the cougar bats the air right before the hunter’s first shot? That’s the equivalent of a bluff charge. Most likely a female with her cubs nearby. That doesn’t mean the cat wouldn’t eventually attack the hunter, but that’s not how a cougar stalks and kills it’s prey.

What in the shroom juice schidt are you thinking? It is possible that the cat was blind, deaf and couldn't smell, but highly unlikely.
