Hey all,
So I’ve had an H&R .223 for years and I ended up pulling the scope off for another project a couple years back and it’s been sitting in the safe since.
My suppressor (SF rc2 mini) should be out of jail in the next month or so, and I got to thinking, it would be a fun suppressor host with subs. I know the 300blk versions come threaded, but I am I crazy for wanting to thread this as a plinking rifle for the kids to shoot?
And while it is getting threaded, I would probably be sorely tempted to cut it back to ~14” to negate the added length of the can.
Thoughts?

I’m not a legal expert on firearms laws, but I believe cutting that rifle barrel to 14” would make it an illegal gun, with or without the suppressor screwed on to the barrel. Others will chime in here to confirm my thought, or correct me.

You’ve already got a short OAL with the SS. Consider chopping to 16.25 and staying legal without the can. That way you can use the same can on something else, and save the SBR tax too.
What fresh Hell is this?

Years ago I had a TC Contender .44 mag with a 14" barrel. I had a suppressor built for it, told the "maker" I intended to use it in a carbine stock - that I already had - as a hog gun. He told me that would require getting an SBR permit as well as the suppressor permit. I did not believe such was the case, since the carbine stock was a factory TC option, but just to be safe, had him "tack weld" the can to the barrel, giving me a barrel length of well over 16". Worked OK for me, as I had no intentions of ever using that can on any other firearm, but I still don't think it was necessary?
